Group of 10 having food from the Christmas menu. Really tasty starters, most of us had the traditional turkey, very generous portions and well presented. A good choice of deserts which were also very tasty. Very good value for money and excellent service throughout. We had great evening thanks to all the staff at the Tavern.
Just wanted to do a massive shout out to Gemma and the team. We had the best time on Saturday night for our works doo...3 course festive menu was delish (Bravo chefs!) and the service was fantastic!...and there was 30 of us! Thank you as well for accommodating our games, secret Santa and kids so beautifully...and for letting us have all our music requests! We'll definitely be back for a big doo...plus all the usual meet ups too. So glad to have our local back ❤
We would like to say a big thank you to John and Gemma for hosting my father s wake. Nothing was too much ,the hot and cold buffet they provided was absolutely perfect, the staff are a credit to you both, they were very thoughtful and friendly making sure everything/ everyone was okay and making sure everything went smoothly so thank you all . Colin and Zena Also we can recommend the Sunday roast which we have been back to the pub to try and was really lovely we will definitely be going back soon . The pub has a lovely warm atmosphere with friendly staff.
Under new management the meal was so much better than previously. The Tavern was busier than usual and therefore had a really nice atmosphere. We will be returning on a regular basis. Now that it’s getting busier I would recommend booking in advance.
This is a great pub, with amazing food and a superb atmosphere. It is let down by a rude foul mouthed little boy with red hair serving behind the bar. I was in there this evening enjoying a relaxing pint when I overheard him swearing at his fellow colleagues behind the bar and being generally offensive. There was a nice young lady from Ukraine working hard and doing a great job, but all this boy could do was be rude to her, even when she was clearly asking him for help. He spent the evening ignoring her, and constantly swearing under his breath, unfortunately he could be heard by others around the bar. This is not relaxing and I don’t like to witness this kind of treatment. I like drinking in here, but if this little boy is working in future I will turn around and take my custom elsewhere. Come on Tavern you can do better than this.
The pub has ebbed and flowed over the years but is still going. Usual pub fayre on the menu. Fish and chips were OK, and burger was alright. If you want to pay more, go elsewhere for the same stuff, but if you want quick and easy dining, then the Tavern will suffice. Staff were pleasant
Took my 15 year old son here. He is one of the worlds faddiest eaters, yet he demolished his steak and chips before I was even half way through my own meal. It's nice to have proper Gastro Pub Food, with good portions, and not one of these fancy rip-off places, that serve portions you'd expect to find between your teeth. My side salad was crisp and fresh, with firm lettuce leaves, rather than the usual leaves that have had many trips from plate to plate. I see the menu is about to change, please keep the new menu traditional and honest cuisine, and not budgie food. I would seriously recommend the owners lock the chef in the kitchen, and not allow him out. He's too good to lose. Cheers.
