We’ve been going since it reopened under new owners and it’s a brilliant pub, drinks aren’t overpriced and there’s always something going on so it’s perfect for us students. Huge beer garden at the back and dartboard inside which is free to use and darts available to borrow behind the bar. The owners and locals are really friendly and welcoming too.

We loved this pub when my boyfriend and I first discovered it 5 months ago and enjoyed playing sticky 13 and getting our friends involved, it became a new tradition every week and a great time to have that wasn’t too expensive considering we’re students. We would be devastated if we had to miss a week due to family events and made sure to be there every Sunday we could. However our most recent trip to the pub we weren’t up to drinking but still didn’t want to miss out on a good time. When the bartender/owner came round to dish out the cards for sticky 13 he told us only paying customers could play (our friend had bought a drink which i mentioned but he might not have heard as he turned around and walked off immediately after telling us). We were incredibly disheartened as we come in every weekend and buy rounds and this was the first time we had both had water instead of a beer. We understand this is a reasonable rule but we had never been told this before as I myself don’t drink often so I get water sometimes. And the way he mentioned this and walked off straight away so we couldn’t explain that our friend bought a drink and that we would buy one in that case as we weren’t made aware before. We unfortunately won’t be returning as we feel the atmosphere had changed and the staff’s demeanour changed when we asked for water and the customer service we’ve received wasn’t what we had hoped for- they were lovely the first few months but after a couple interactions with them that didn’t feel right, we feel as though these interactions were disingenuous and were only polite when we were giving them money- we had a pile of cash out on the table to put towards our sticky 13 cards but were instantly disregarded as participants. Such a shame as now we’ll have to find something else to do every weekend.

My first experience of the Pheasant was late 1979, I've had some memorable times here with family and friends ever since. It's great to be back after a few years of the pub being closed. A great atmosphere and warm friendly service.
