We had a lovely meal! Hubby is a great lover of pies and this did not disappoint. Warm welcome, rustic, lovely situation and altogether a lovely place to go.

Local pub mischief, October 2025 Another pub from local pubs list visited. Pie Night is a great opportunity for those who would like yo try authentic pies in local pub atmosphere and not to overpay fo their meal. We tried chicken&mushroom pie (it won 2 awards) and steak& stout pie. The pies were served with fries (up to our preferences) and vegetables (again, up to our preferences) and gravy too! The portions were generous. To my disappointment the chicken &mushroom pie was just OK. Considering two awards, I expected a lovely balance between white wine tarragon sauce and the rest of the ingredients but I didn't get it. However the steak&stout pie was absolutely amazing! The pie was so good I didn't want to spoil it with gravy (and believe me, I am a huge fun of gravy), the meat was tender and full of flavour. Pastry was fresh. The pub feels very cosy and the staff were nice and helpful. It was difficult to feel the atmosphere of the place as we were the only table in the room and it felt a bit empty; there were more people in the other rooms. A huge plus is that there is alternative for gluten free options. The place also offers pizza, burgers, craft beers, starters. I will definitely get back and try more of these delicious pies.

we had a great meal here on Sunday; the roast was great, really nice fresh veg and potatoes, yorkshire. those having chicken has stuffing. good beers too, nice staff and location. will be going back. the crumble tart, for dessert was great. I was looking forward to traditional bread and butter pudding, it was a disappointment to be honest. But wasn't bad, just a modern effort. overall really good.

What a find! We truly couldn't have picked a more perfect spot for lunch. Tucked away like a true hidden gem in the heart of our countryside, we stumbled upon The Plough during a drive, nestled right beside a charming old canal. As soon as I saw the sign for homemade pies, I was utterly convinced – and it turned out to be an inspired choice! We indulged in the lamb and mint, and the steak and stilton, and both were simply superb. The pastry on both was wonderfully light and crumbly, a testament to genuine homemade quality. The lamb filling was a revelation – so tender it just melted, with the mint offering a beautifully fresh counterpoint. The steak and stilton was equally impressive, featuring meltingly tender beef and a stilton presence that enhanced rather than overwhelmed. A special mention must go to the rosemary-infused gravy, which added another layer of flavour. Beyond the food, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a truly homely atmosphere. Their extensive selection of beers and wines was noteworthy, and even the coffee was excellent. A thoroughly delightful experience we can't wait to repeat.

Love this beautiful pub & recently tried their Sunday Dinners! One of the best ever! The beef melted and the roast potatoes & yorkshires were something else. All locally sourced, which is even better and the staff are all super warm & friendly too. Can't wait to come back. Absolutely Awesome!

We enjoyed a lovely meal in a typically English pub. The staff were very helpful, attentive and great fun. The games on each table were a real nice touch. We both had such an enjoyable evening and will definitely be going back. Many thanks

The pub itself is a beautiful and interesting building. Check out the snug and the top bar especially. Some interesting old photos and lovely traditional feel. The menu is great for those of us that want to continie supporting pubs but don't always want or are able to spend a fortune. I had a lovely generous fish pie for £10 ...amazing value!! The There is plenty of choice for all pockets. Great range of well kept real ale and craft beers. Parking is flat and spacious with a big beer garden. Staff are super helpful & very dog friendly. Lovely canal walks on the doorstep..Keep up the great work guys. We will be back!
