Would definitely recommend coming here. The food was really good! Especially the loaded chips! The atmosphere was great with nice scenery and a variety of different seats. This is perfect for an occasion, date night and meeting friends!

We arrived at The Old Vol and thought it looked like a lovely spot. There’s a nice indoor area and outside they have covered pods which, at first glance, seemed perfect since our kids were playing in the outdoor play area. What we didn’t realise is that those pods come with a £50 charge just to sit in them, regardless of whether you’re ordering food or drinks. We explained to the staff that we had small children outside and needed to be near them, but were told flatly that we could only sit inside or in a different uncovered area. That “covered” space was soaking wet from the rain, menus were blowing away, and within minutes we were wet and uncomfortable. We asked to speak to the manager. Nobody came, so I had to go and find someone myself. When I eventually spoke to the manager, Tilly, she was dismissive and unwilling to use any common sense or discretion. Despite the fact the pods were completely empty, we were told it was “policy” and that was that. The result? Miserable, wet seating and a feeling of being unwelcome. Customer service was poor, unhelpful, and rigid. Charging £50 just to sit under cover outside is absolutely ridiculous, especially when you’re already spending money on food and drinks. Sadly, what could have been a nice family lunch turned into a frustrating experience. We won’t be back.

The pub it’s really nice itself, we have sat in the garden, setting was lovely and food was nice too. The only massive downside is service, absolutely horrible. We have sat down and waited 15 minutes for anyone to notice us despite serval attempts trying to reach someone for attention. Service walks around and ignores you, very long time for wait for drinks or food.

Great atmosphere! Food was very nice, if im honest, id say it is on the pricey side for what it is, but it is good. Went for the sunday roast, service was very poor, had to order a few times, had to try get the attention of the staff for ordering food / drinks. Only menu on a sunday is prefixed, 2 or 3 courses. Food was good. My chicken starter was over cooked, salmon tetaki was over cooked, but the sunday was nice, that saved it. It was a busy sunday, but regardless of how busy the place gets, there was more than enough staff to accomodate the customers, but lacked service. For a 2 course sunday dinner and a few drinks, the bill waa 120 pound. As i said i think thats pricey for a sunday lunch.

Had a wonderful Christmas dinner at The Old Vol! Everything was absolutely delicious, and the drinks were fantastic too. My favorite dish had to be the stuffed turkey and the truffle mushroom hash brown bites. Chef Hira treated us so well as always—such a pleasure!

A perfect location for summer days in there stylish outdoor area, lots of tables and private pods. There is outdoor toilets and bars so no need to head back in doors, there is an indoor and outdoor menu which is strictly kept separate. Outdoor menu is light dishes if your looking for more substantial meal head indoors for the indoor menu. I would book if it’s a nice day and wanting to sit outside.

I love this place! The sushi is amazing. I had the vegetarian option and it was a work of art! The outdoor seating area is lovely and I’ve heard since the summer part of it is now covered which is great for outdoor dining They were just installing the pods however, at £350 minimum spend I sadly won’t be sitting in these

Fine dining? Pub? Family friendly venue? Kind staff with excellent service? Beer? The Old Vol ticks all the boxes. It’s an amazing venue that’s had an immense amount of thought and care poured into. I highly recommend!

Fantastic food and an even better atmosphere. What a fantastic, unexpected experience. The sushi platter was perfectly balanced and tasty, but the pork skewers were stand out. If you want that holiday feeling then definitely sit outside and order a cocktail or four! If I had a single gripe, it would be that there was some miscommunication between the outdoor restaurant/bar and the indoors which made it a tad awkward at times.

The whole experience at this gorgeous restaurant was incredible from start to finish!! The staff were fantastic and the food was absolutely sensational. The dessert was so good, I ordered it again!! Will definitely be going back!! I want to give a very special thank you to Head Chef Hira Thakur who went above and beyond, with all our dietary requirements and ensuring my Mum’s birthday surprise was a huge success!
