We have just come home from doing the VIP family experience with he fantastic zoo keeper Alex. Such an amazing experience, the animals was brilliant and Alex was so knowledgeable. We will definitely be doing it again
Lovely place with friendly and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. We did the lemur feeding experience with Kennedy who was a wonderful host; happy to answer any questions we had. Rose, Bramble, Julian, and Juliet were a joy to meet! It’s especially lovely that all proceeds from the lemur experience go towards the Plant A Tree Madagascar charity. We also loved looking at all the genuine fossils in the small museum, as well as learning about the legless lizards at the keeper talk! Would absolutely recommend and visit again :)
Such a lovely hidden gem of a zoo! We came here as I booked an armadillo encounter for my boyfriend’s birthday a couple months ago, and it didn’t disappoint. With purchase of the encounter, you also get entry to the zoo. They had loads of animals, and some I haven’t seen at any other UK zoos before like skunks and maras. As soon as you enter you have a capybara and call duck exhibit and a sea otter exhibit. The sea otters were adorable, I’m a bit biased though as they’re one of my favourite animals! They were very vocal with loads of little squeaks. We looked around for about an hour, and even got to go into the rabbit enclosure and feed them some veggies while getting strokes in. You can also buy some farmyard food at entry to feed the wallabies, maras, goats and horses, which was so worth it to feed the adorable horse they have! We had our armadillo encounter with Kennedy and she was absolutely amazing. She was so knowledgable on the little “armoured dogs” hehe and she was so kind and friendly. We held one of the two 3 banded armadillos while he curled up, these were housed with some marmosets which loved playing with my phone and perching on our shoulders! We then fed and stroked/gave back scratches to the two girl 6 banded armadillos. Kennedy told us we got lucky as usually they were tired after they’d eaten and they would lie under their heat lamp, but they loved exploring around our feet and standing up on their hind legs to get a better view of us! Our experience was about 30 minutes and it was perfect, I couldn’t recommend it more! I already want to go back for their otter experience haha. Thank you Kennedy and the other lovely staff at the zoo, it was a memory my boyfriend and I won’t forget!
Me and my girlfriend visited Exotic Zoo after purchasing a voucher for an armadillo experience. It was a lovely zoo with very welcoming staff including a lovely girl called kennedy who did our armadillo experience, she was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable and made sure we had a great experience. It was well worth the money for both the experience and the zoo itself. I would urge anyone to visit the zoo as it is a lovely experience and worth the very fair price that it costs.
Brilliant town zoo. Not huge, but animals appear well cared for and enclosures are a good size. We did an armadillo experience and was extremely happy with the whole experience, Sam was very knowledgeable, took time to answer questions and clearly cares for the animals (even allowed by husband and 2 year old to join in with feeding the big armadillo which made the experience so much better). Animals all seemed happy and were active. The cafe is beautifully decorated (with animals which toddler loved!) and food/drinks were great value and good quality. All staff we met were helpful, chatty and smiling. Overall, would highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our visit. There were plenty of friendly, knowledgeable staff and the animals were varied and in good condition. The ticket prices were good value, a rarity in this day and age. The food in the cafe was great and (again) good value. Highly recommended and we'll return in the summer.
Absolutely one of the best days out I have ever experienced. This zoo is such a hidden gem. My boyfriend and I went today for the Lemur experience, which was a birthday present. We were both just over the moon. We got a whole box of sliced up banana and dried fruits to give to them. They were so adorable taking it from our hands and climbing over us. So soft too! Never imagined a lemur to be as soft. The zoo keeper that came in with us was also so lovely, answered any questions we had and also told us in general about the lemurs, how long they had them and what they are like. After our experience we spent a couple more hours walking around the zoo. It is a pretty small place, but I think for me that made it so much better. There are zoo keepers all around, and regular feedings so that you can learn about the animals and watch them as they scramble around for their food - so very cute! It was like having a personalised tour around the place, but it was just for everyone to experience! Would absolutely love to come back here again for one of the other experiences they hold. You can really tell how happy the animals are, and how much the keepers care about them. 10/10 recommend!!
Had a lovely visit out over the jubilee weekend. You can see they are still expanding and the enclosures and exhibits already in place are brilliant. The animals are adorable and staff so friendly. Especially love Edwina the tortoise and the Marmosets, so inquisitive. Would recommend for sure.
Had a fox experience today, which was my moms Xmas present off me, so 4 of us went, had such a lovely day, Yogi & Freya the foxes were amazing, their handler Ryan was great, very friendly. The lady on front desk was really polite an friendly also, well actually every worker we spoke to or passed was all lovely an friendly. Plenty of animals, plenty of fusses an strokes. Most animals are rescues. They are always expanding an updating the zoo for the benefit of the animals. We will definitely be going back again x
