   Gauntleys is a true gem of Nottingham. Even if you are not inclined to nicotine, the wine selection in the cellar is vast and varied. In addition to this, the beautiful cabinetry and wine racks stand testament to the timeless nature of the shop. I had the pleasure of speaking to a 5th generation family member working in the shop, and it truly is a privilege to be apart of a city with shops that have such heritage. We must use, shop and support our legacy shops and heritage otherwise we will lose them - Nottingham city is a better place through having such a historic family run business standing pride of place. Please do not miss an opportunity to visit Gauntleys; not only is it an amazing shop but also supporting our local community. I hope the shop stands strong for another 5 generations!

   I recently visited Gauntleys of Nottingham and picked up a Leaf by Oscar Valladares Maduro Robusto. From the moment I walked in, the place had a warm, welcoming feel – the kind of shop where you instantly know the staff actually care about what they’re selling. Shop was stocked with an impressive selection of cigars, covering well-known classics and some more unusual finds. It felt more like browsing a treasure trove than just shopping. The Leaf by Oscar I bought was spot on – beautifully presented, rich in flavour, and exactly the kind of cigar I’d been looking for. What really stood out, though, was the advice from the team. They took the time to talk me through different options, without ever making it feel rushed or pushy. It was clear they genuinely wanted me to walk out with the right cigar, not just any cigar. Beyond cigars, Gauntleys also has a fantastic range of whiskies and spirits, which makes it easy to lose track of time in there. Whether you’re new to cigars or a long-time aficionado, this shop really hits the mark. Great products, knowledgeable staff, and a proper Nottingham gem. I’ll definitely be back.

   Had the pleasure of shopping at Gauntley’s today for cigars to celebrate the completion of a life goal at the weekend. It was a real source of nostalgia for me as my Grandfather used to shop here for his pipe and Tobacco. Being a complete novice to cigar smoking I was really pleased the gentleman I met today took a great deal of time to deal with me, and inform my decision. A really joy to talk to, and so interesting. Thank you so much. Could have talked all day!! I will be sure to post a picture of us post the bodybuilding show. I’ll be back I am sure for wine… and a cigar or two in the future. Thanks for a great experience, and a travel back in time in my memory to my Grandad. An absolute pleasure!

   Christmas 2022 I was looking for a nice whiskey for my Father as a 'stocking filler'. So where does one go in Nottingham? Gauntleys in the Exchange Arcade. I don't drink whiskey but he likes a glass as a nightcap. I ventured downstairs and asked the lady what she would recommend for a very smooth, drinkable on it's own whiskey. She gave me three to choose from in my price range. I asked her opinion on which one she would like and it was a Tomintoul 16 year old single malt. Been round to my parents today and my Father commented on the whiskey I had brought him, I didn't ask him. He said it was lovely and so smooth. So Thank You 'lady in Gauntleys' for your advice.Thank You Gauntley's for just being such a lovely, proper, traditional shop with fantastic service and advice. May you always be a part of Nottingham. If you want a special gift, they have a 'mind blowing selection' and it's just a lovely place to be in. Highly Recommended.
