Absolutely awful place, dirty run down and frankly unsafe, police attend regularly to sort out anti social behaviour and worse Avoid at all costs you would be more comfortable and probably safer sleeping on a park bench

What a joke of a hotel Been along time since I was in this hotel. I trained as a chef when it was the Albany hotel . Great place to eat then it changed hands and became Britannia. The staff are friendly great location. But! Certainly not smoke free, noisy, a lot of asylum seekers in this hotel children running around. Not a great experience.

I've stayed here on several occasions in the past and although it's a little old and could do with a face lift, its centrally located and at a reasonable price within my employers budget. Staff were all great and when there was a misunderstanding regarding whether my last nights stay included breakfast, the duty supervisor did the right thing and gave me a voucher to cover breakfast in their restaurant. If the company was to spend some money on upgrading/redecorating the place, its be much easier to recommend to others but it was good enough for my needs.

Stayed here for two nights and if it wasn't for the nice staff I would have given less stars. As said the staff are lovely and always willing to help but the hotel itself, the decor and the properties condition are just poor. Straight away there was a terrible smell in the corridor and lift. In the room we noticed the dust laden TV wasn't working, after a lovely member of staff came up and found a power cable to plug it in to we were all sorted. The bathroom had limescale and grot everywhere, as well as urine stained floors around the toilet. The beds are very firm and I could feel every spring, plus the headboard felt broken, it was very wobbly and my pillow kept slipping down. It's just outdated and in need of a good lick of paint and a clean, the scuff marks everywhere along with the bath which was badly stained, they'd obviously just painted over the stains but this was all peeling and after my shower I had bits of white paint on my feet. Overall its just not a nice place to sleep. It's ashame too because the staff are great and very ready to help you. I wouldn't stay here again but if you can put up with the smell, outdated decor and dirt then it may be for you!

Hotel looks nothing like the pictures on the website. Reception is messy, lifts are dirty. First room I walked into was not cleaned. hairs on bedding and bathroom not cleaned bath full of hair. We were changed to another room, clean bedding and nice view but bedroom was tiny. Checked the bathroom but was no better hairs all over floors, tiles were mouldy in grout and a big chunk missing out of the toilet basin. We told them about this and were given extra towels for floor mats and nothing done about the toilet. Plug holes full of hair causing blockages in sinks also not cleaned until last day. On a good note the beds are very comfy and breakfast is nice. One piece of advice ask for a receipt of payment if paying up front as they also tried telling us we didn't pay for our room.

Looks nice in photos only. Quality is not at all what you'd expect from them. Cleanliness is poor, rubbish bin lid was dirty, floor looks like it hasn't been hoovered in months, the sink still had some soap bits from a previous stay. The bed isn't that comfy. The worst part is the shower didn't work! So disappointed with this visit. The breakfast was alright. Not a lot there. I wouldn't really recommend. You can get a room at the Travelodge for similar prices and they have much better quality furniture and cleanliness standards.

Read endless bad reviews last minuet and was very hesitant to stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by lovely friendly staff who we expressed our concerns to and said if there was any problems please let them know. We then went to our rooms to be very happy. Clean rooms with two DOUBLE beds TWO clean bathrooms. I then contacted my dad who had read these bad reviews and told him how great it was. Once enjoying our rooms unpacking and finding lots of fresh towels another great point. We also had a mini fridge that was FREE!!! We went to the lobby to say how pleased we were with the hotel. It was a fun, friendly hotel the staff were wonderful and we will be booking again. If you are looking for 5 star quality rooms with rose petal beds then don't book but if you want a friendly hotel with a comfy bed and close city location for excellent prices then this is the hotel. Thank You to the staff and I hope more people write good reviews. We (myself and three friends) defiantly will be staying again and found no problems with the hotel.
