Have stayed in this hotel a couple times now, each time the stay has been top tier. Customer service at the desk was excellent and very accommodating. The hotel and rooms are well decorated and feel very upscale. The rooms are compact, but sized amicably. Tonnes of wardrobe space if you're staying for a while, hairdryer, ironing board and the usual you would expect. Absolutely would stay again

Loved it here, nicely decorated, clean, very close to the lace market and the castle. Fairly central for shopping. 14 mins walk from the train station, 10 mins from Notts county football ground. Parking close by on the multi story car park and great, olde, pubs around the area. Friendly staff. Breakfast wasn't bad but not marvelous either. Sufficient tho

There are two similarly named places in the area β€” the St James Hotel and the St James with The Crow pub β€” so it’s easy to mix them up. The hotel itself is in a pleasant part of Nottingham, close to the castle and just across the square from The Crow pub. The lobby and entrance look impressive, but check-in is strictly from 2 p.m. I arrived slightly early and had to wait. My first room (a β€œSmall Standard Double”) was extremely compact. The bathroom was a reasonable size, but the overall room felt much smaller than other standard rooms I saw later. It would be manageable for one person, but for two it would feel very cramped, and there was limited space for luggage. The view was also not great. During my stay in this room, I heard a persistent metallic noise from outside that made it difficult to sleep. I mentioned this at reception, and the staff were helpful and moved me to another room. The second room (Room 517) was much better β€” more spacious, better maintained, and it included additional amenities such as a coffee machine. My booking did not include breakfast, so I cannot comment on that. One disappointing aspect was the hotel’s β€œgym” or β€œtoning room.” It was a very small space with only a few pieces of equipment and didn’t feel like a proper gym facility. Although the common areas look good, many of the room interiors feel dated, with worn furniture and some maintenance issues in the bathroom. For Β£90 per night for the small room, I didn’t feel the value was very good, especially considering other nearby hotels offered more for a similar price. Overall, the hotel has a nice location and helpful staff, but the experience was inconsistent and the room quality varied significantly. I personally wouldn’t choose to stay here again

We like this hotel, situated near the castle and not far from the main bars and restaurants and a moderate walk to the theatres and arena. One of my favourite bar areas in a Nottingham, so comfortable and cosy. The team are lovely, although we found breakfast a bit chaotic when we visited, kids running about everywhere (although not the hotel's fault) and breakfast items slow to be replenished. It wouldn't put us off staying again. Parking in the multi storey can be a bit tight for larger vehicles, but the hotel has parking next to it which is in an outside space.

I stayed towards the end of 2022. The room was comfortable, quiet, and clean, with good facilities. It's in a fairly quiet location, but not too far from the shops and restaurants. The hotel felt a little understaffed. This was most noticeable as we waited at the bar to get drinks as the barman disappeared to perform other duties.

Amazing hotel! We stayed one night and got the crash pad. We've been told it might be a bit too small for a couple but it wasn't! Such a lovely room, small but just perfect for someone who's looking to just crash there. The hotel and rooms are very nicely decorated, great location, prices and staff! Loved it

Took my mum for afternoon tea. One of the most relaxing places we have been too. We chatted for hours in a comfortable spot with lovely food and drink. Highly recommend, was my third visit and will not be my last

We had a single night stay in an executive double- the bed was HUGE! Very comfortable bed - no lumps, no dips, no creaks, perfect firmness and clean wrinkle free bedding. Spacious room and small but functional bathroom with shower. Yes it could do with a lick of paint to freshen it up but that's the only criticism. Service was friendly, professional and always available. Food was good standard and we liked the straight forward unpretentious menu. Breakfast was well laid out and choice of eggs available on request. Finally a breakfast service that does perfect scrambled egg! Yes the decor is beginning to look a little tired but it isn't offensive, grotesque or off putting. Overall the hotel was clean, tidy, both lifts were working and there are 2 parking options available. Well located for Nottingham city centre and the castle. If you're attending the arena it's a 15-20min walk depending on your fitness (watch out for cobbles with your heels ladies!)

We LOVED this hotel. We were there only one night, but wished we had the time to enjoy the hotel longer. It's wonderful that there is a parkade next door and we were able to walk and see a lot of the sites so close to the hotel. The style is gorgeous and we would definitely stay again!
