   We stayed at Horsley Lodge, Derby for two nights following a wedding we attended off site. On arrival Sunday, we received a very warm and friendly welcome from the receptionist, which was a great start to the stay. The rooms themselves were lovely and well presented, however they were extremely dusty, which was disappointing given the overall appearance. We ate at the on-site restaurant on our first evening. The setting is beautiful and we were asked to pre-order our meals, yet despite this the food arrived an hour and a half late. Unfortunately, the staff appeared untrained and unable to manage the situation or communicate effectively with guests. The following morning, breakfast was very chaotic. Orders were incorrect across our group and when this was challenged, we were told it was because the kitchen had been overwhelmed and that we should have pre-ordered. This advice was never given at check-in, and we would have happily done so had we been informed. The most significant issue during our stay was the smell from the drains. The odour was noticeable throughout reception, the bar, the restaurant, and even inside the rooms while eating and resting. This was raised with staff but was met with a lack of concern, which was very disappointing. Overall, Horsley Lodge has real potential with its lovely rooms, grounds, and restaurant, but poor organisation, untrained staff, and unresolved maintenance issues significantly impacted our experience.

   Having been a regular visitor to Horsley Lodge and having hosted events there in the past, when I started planning a charity Murder Mystery fundraising event, this was the very first venue that came to mind … and I’m so pleased to say that I wasn’t wrong! From start to finish, Laura, the events manager made everything go as smoothly and professionally as possible ~ absolutely EVERYONE (over 100 guests) said it was the best night out they’d had in ages. The setting, the food, the service, the ambience - everything was perfect…. I honestly couldn’t recommend Horsley Lodge more! Thank you so much Laura and all of the team ~ you know we will be back soon x

   Had a lovely stay. Rooms were nice, though a little refresh wouldn't hurt. Still they looked good, had everything I needed and more and were a good size. Bed was very comfortable. Food on the evening and breakfast was lovely, the pie was great. Staff were so helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The communal areas were very nice too.

   Stopped here in the 3 storey home. Stunning throughout, sauna on the top floor was a treat. Bath in the bedroom, above and beyond effort put into this building. Highly recommend!

   I went for a Sunday lunch last weekend. The venue itself is stunning and having been a number of times, I was looking forward to trying a roast dinner here. I ordered the roast beef and it was absolutely delicious. The trimmings were also lovely. The cauliflower cheese is incredible. My only comment would be that there was one thin slice of beef, I personally would have liked it either thicker or two slices. This was the same feedback from the rest of our party. Otherwise, great service, good local beer from shiny brewery, amazing tasting food! Highly recommended!!

   We held a wedding at Horsley Lodge on the 9th September 2022 and I can only say it was the most wonderful day all round, Laura and all the staff were just amazing, from the planning of our day right through to the end of the day. Food was perfect the room looked amazing, I would love to do it all again, thank you all at Horsley who made our day a wedding not to forget certainly for us and our guests were also blown away with the venue and how well they were look after. 5***** all round..
