Took my girlfriend here for an otter feeding experience as she loves otters. Absolutely brilliant. The staff are polite and the lady who took us around is very knowledgeable. Otters seem very happy and well looked after. The butterfly house is very nice too. Definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful visit for Halloween. It is a small place but well worth a visit. I got gifted the otter experience and I adored it! Only downside was I couldn’t get more pictures of me with the otters (we had fishy hands quite rightly so and the keeper had to do the talk with lots of questions) but thankfully a lovely member of the public took one for us. Hand feeding them was a dream come true. Staff are lovely and clear they take good care of the animals. We were very lucky in that 2 weeks ago they received smooth coated otters which are my favourite! Thank you otters and butterflies.

A fantastic experience for all ages. The butterfly sanctuary is almost unique - there are few places that allow people to walk directly through an open habitat to find what they can. Two warnings - it is significantly more humid than the local area, and it can smell of the ripe/rotting fruit they feed on. The otters are beautiful and clearly well cared for, with platforms for viewing them above ground and in the nests below. I highly recommend arriving for feeding times to receive the guided tour of the different animals and ensure you see them at their most active. The entire experience was delightful and left children with new favourite animals

You need to time your visit around the feeding at 11.30am and 2pm to ensure you see lots of otters as they all sleep after feeding! We arrived and 10.30 and there were loads of Otters playing. Really good value.

Took my granddaughters here last week. They loved being in the butterfly house, especially when the butterflies landed on them and sat on their hands for ages. There are many to see flying in amongst the plants. There are also terrapins and an iguana which is billed as Izzy the green iguana but is bright orange! The otters however were a bit of a disappointment, even at feeding time. The keeper just put the food into the enclosure and it was not easy to see what the otters were doing. The girls got bored with it very quickly and went back to the butterfly house. There is a small cafe outside and you have to show your tickets again to get back in the butterfly house. There are only snacks of pasties or sausage rolls, but they were delicious. Ice creams and beverages also available. There is a larger eatery in the station area. Nice gift shop, lots of things for young ones, but not much for over 10s. Also items for adults. We spent 3 hours there so definitely a place worth visiting for a morning or afternoon but not a whole day.

Excellent attraction to visit. Staff who run it are very knowledgeable about all of the different species of otters that are in the sanctuary. Very informative talks provided at each of the habitats at feeding times. The indoor butterfly greenhouse is also lovely. Very pleasant to walk around with all of the butterflies fluttering around your head.

Myself and my partner were fortunate enough to take part in an Otter Experience on Friday. We were accompanied by the wonderful and VERY knowledgeable Aimee, who made an already incredible experience just that bit more fantastic! All of the staff there are so helpful and welcoming. The experience itself was unforgettable and totally unique to this location. Being inside the enclosure, hand feeding the otters was amazing! If you love otters as much as my other half, or even just find them hella cute, I would absolutely recommend making a trip to Buckfast Butterflies & Otters. Thank you so much for the best experience ever! Worth every penny and so much more!

Great little butterfly farm and otter sanctuary. They had a large amount of different species and a lot of educational material around. The price for an adult is just below £10 for all day entry. It's a short stop from the A38 and you can have a coffee and cake at the railway cafe next to it. Only wish it was bigger!

Absolutely lovely experience. Strongly recommend the visit. Just a few things to bear in mind: it's very hot in the butterfly "enclosure/green house". Careful where you walk in the butterfly enclosure as there might be caterpillars, butterflies or terrapins on the floor. Best time to visit is on otter feeding times as the keeper talks about them and we can see them around. The total visit can be done in about 2 hours but with feeding will take about 3. Free car park. Thank you for your hard work with them.

Went for an otter experience for my friend's 21st birthday and it turned out being the best day! Very nice staff and adorable otters, the rain didn't spoil any of it! We even had the chance to have a close look of the babies! Thank you for having us, we will come back to see the butterflies!
