We had such an incredible meal here the other night. I wish I had photographed our mains which were the chicken curry (best pub curry I’ve ever had) and the Moroccan lamb belly which was also insanely good. We had the beef brisket croquettes to start which were served with dill pickles and a jalapeño mayo (pictured). Having eaten at many pubs in the area, it’s pretty unmatched. One thing I would say I would love the pub to have a more traditional look with the decor. There’s nothing better than a pub with exceptional food which feels authentically old and traditional. Hardly even a criticism though. Will be back very soon!

We stayed the night at the Cornish Arms and hosted a meal in the restaurant. The accomodation and meal were faultless. We had one of the bedroom suites and it was spacious and comfortable. The food was very well planned and executed across all the dishes we tried. Fantastic flavours and presentation. The service was helpful and good humored. Even the breakfast the next morning was a step up from what might have been expected. Considering the level of the entire Cornish Arms experience, the prices are more than reasonable. We look forward to more stays and meals in the future.

We had dinner here in August before catching the ferry from Plymouth and it was absolutely superb. The food was beautifully presented with generous portions and excellent service. All the staff were friendly and attentive and we had a really excellent meal.

Cannot rate this hotel highly enough. It fully deserves it's position in the Sunday Times top 50 best Gastropubs. The rooms, food and service are all so good. It was a chance booking but what a find. To cap everything else off to have it's own parking space for every room while in such a central location is amazing. This is a true gem of a find.

Nice venue, with comfortable atmosphere. We didn't book and were easily able to sit in the bar for dinner around 7:30 on a sunday evening. Really excellent vegan menu, the selection was great, with some very interesting options and delicious onion rings. The desserts were really special and we left absolutely stuffed and very happy.

Today I ate, indisputably, the best lunch I've eaten in a very long time if not ever. The flavours exquisite, the attention to every single detail, perfection, and the presentation outstanding. I should mention the excellent service and the care taken over every request. It was a memorable birthday meal for my daughter and a taste sensation for all of us. Thank you so much. You not only deserve your award for best gourmet bistro pub but surely your chef deserves a Michelin star or two. I can't wait until next time.

Can I give the Cornish Arms a 10 star review? My partner booked The Cornish Arms for a belated birthday present for me and boy it did not disappoint. From arrival where we were warmly welcomed by the GM, Steve. The food was outstanding, the breakfast was simple in concept but the ingredients well sourced, beautifully served and tasted amazing. Our dinner on the Saturday night, just delicious. Again the food was so beautifully served. Our room, Toad was wonderfully decorated, the bed and sheets really comfortable. Thank you all for making our stay outstanding.

Wow and food is some of the best I have ever tasted. I had the lamb lunch dish on the menu. The flavours were out of this world. Staff friendly and helpful. Not the quickest of service but well worth the wait. Old atmosphere pub with log fire. Menu is high end priced but the quality of the food is well worth it. Would I go back yes. Wife had Pork lunch meal, meat not chewy melted in mouth.

We ate here last night. We had Ox cheek and Pork chops. Both were really excellent and of a standard not usually found in town pubs. Passion fruit cheese cake was superb too. Service was excellent too. Everyone involved should be very proud. The list of wines by the glass could have been more extensive, but we were well pleased with our choices. Well done!

Food was excellent. Breakfast just as good as dinner! Rooms well appointed - can get a little noisy from passing traffic (but earplugs are supplied!). In the heart of the town. Lovely night out for anyone in a superb pub.
