I've never encountered such a great customer support team experience in Northern Ireland before. I do not recommend Hughes whatsoever. At the start of my policy they were constantly harassing me for no claims certificates when I had already spoken to a representative on the phone regarding the issue and how it would be resolved shortly. Despite this, their email correspondence repeatedly asked me for it and threatened to cancel my policy prematurely. Furthermore they plainly refused modifications to my vehicle, not even offering an increased upfront premium. Lastly, when my policy was about to lapse, I emailed them requesting that my policy is cancelled at the lapse date and could they send me proof of my no claims. I received no confirmation or acknowledgement other than the automated response to all emails. Therefore I rang them and after waiting about 30 mins, I was told in a ~10 sec conversation with a representative that, yes my policy was to be cancelled and that they do not provide confirmations of such actions via email. Very helpful and informative....

Not interested in helping you unless you have got an online reference number. Came that time of the year to renew my car insurance. So popped online to start shopping around and Hughes was one of the companies I looked at. I tried 3 times to get an online quote, but it kept dropping me out. So I looked up the number to give them a call, hopefully it would be faster. Sadly no it was not, I spent about 2-3 minutes listening to their legal terms and conditions. Then, about 5 minutes on hold to get to talk someone who was no help at all. All she said was I needed an online reference number and when I said. I couldn't get one as their website wasn't working properly. She said I needed an online reference number just to go online to get one and that was after I'd told her I couldn't get one. Wasn't willing to help me at all without this number and no explanation to way she couldn't. A bit mad that you have to go online and get a number before you can talk to them on the phone. Happily, I got my cover elsewhere thanks to Hughes not been helpful at all. Hughes was a good company for me for years on and off, but now they seem to be uninterested in new business.

Terrible money hungry company. Have a car with them and still wanted £20 for proof of insurance in the past. Still with them for one vehicle and can't wait to swap to CIP. congrats you made your last £20 off me. We won't be back

They are a large NI based insurance company but do not specialise in performance cars or modified cars and for this reason they are not competitive against companies like Adrian Flux. They also are not competitive for younger drivers.

Far too expensive, biggest mistake ever is getting insurance on hughs. Still have to use the app second year in. If want it removed it cost more, surprise ! Look somewhere else !
