Went in this weekend as I'm in the process of starting my first saltwater tank. Carl gave us such good advice and was very personable and friendly. Shop looked awesome, with plenty of variety of fish. Also did me a great deal on live rock. Definitely will return.
Visited here on a Sunday as just starting up a new saltwater reef aquarium. This place has a great selection, really impressed with the guy who runs it's knowledge and obvious passion for his profession. He gave us good advice and didn't try to oversell anything. Will definitely be going back. A little hint for anyone visiting, he said he prefers payment in cash but took card as we didn't have cash on us.
Lovely shop, plenty to see/well stocked with fish and corals both owners Carl and Curtis are friendly and helpful towards anything marine related.

By far THE BEST aquatic shop in Plymouth. Stocking a crazy range of fish that I’ve never seen elsewhere. What this man doesn’t know about the hobby isn’t worth knowing. He has a true passion for the hobby and it shows by the quality of his stock. Wouldn’t shop Anywhere else, get yourselves down there!!!!
The Urban Aquarist is an incredible little gem of a shop. Carl has incredible knowledge and passion - also a great place to hang out and meet other hobbyists. Fantastic healthy fish are hand selected, rested and cared for by Carl who has over 20 years in the industry. Excellent equipment, coral and dry goods too. You can get the Disney Pixar classic clownfish all the way through to sharks and crazy inverts that Attenborough would lose his mind over Can't fault it! Worth the trip whether you're from Cornwall, Teignbridge or beyond!
What a great place really friendly guy always happy to help out and the fish are well looked after and my fish from him are doing great. Going back again would recommend to go and visit.
