My Dad (who has dementia) finds a great sense of comfort and calm at Castle Espie. He has been a bit of a twitcher all his life and although he no longer gets to the outdoor areas he just loves to go to the cafe where he is well looked after with his extra hot large latte in a take away cup. He stayed at the Red Row as a child and loves to talk about the history of the grounds. I would like to place in writing a special thanks to all the staff and cafe staff following our visit to the centre on Sat 6th December. Dad wanted to bring the family down for a Christmas celebration and to have a family photo in front of the tree. We were treated with such care and kindness, on the road home Dad said he had never felt so special as he had this day surrounded by his family at his special place. This really is a magical and much cherished place for young and old alike. Thanks again x

Wetland bird sanctuary, also hosts craft fairs. Could spend a day here. Great educational content for adults and children alike

Good place for a walk, on your own or with the kids. I visited last week with my grandson, no visiting wildfowl yet, but he had a ball in the Wildwood Play area, and the soft play. Decent bit of lunch too.

A well laid out and managed slice of wilderness, not far from Newtownards and Comber. There are plenty of places to stop and rest on the way round (we had a 3 & 4 yr old). Great for bird watching and learning or even just a scenic walk if you're not into local bird/wildlife. There are plenty of nice views. Helpful and friendly staff, lovely gift shop, small softplay for younger kids, and a nice cafΓ© at the end. We will be back.

Finally visited the last WWT centre I had yet to see. There are the usual attractions for families, an excellent cafe and shop and plenty of hides. Not the best time of year to visit but we saw plenty of waders. Highly recommended if you have any interest in birds and/or little people to keep entertained.

I go here because it's a short walk from the car park for my elderly mother, there is a shop full of glitzy stuff for her to wander around, and a cafe so she can sit to watch the birds , drink tea and eat buns. Perfect for that, also would be a great day out for the kids.

Had my lunch and then paid for entry. Got a map but although interesting didn't really need it. The weather was good so I saw it at its best. I had a lovely afternoon

Our 1st time here today(1st May 2022) Lovely walk around and got to see all the birds. Kids get a bird sheet to identify the birds(no seed due to flu but will be again). Viewing platforms to look out at the landscape and a play park, zipline and swamp. I would say we will be back again :)

Had an enjoyable time seeing the different wild foul and a nice walk thru the forest. Definitely a place to take the children with lots for them to do and see. Small cafe on the premises with lots of good stuff to eat.

Great spot for kids and adults , lots of parking . Recommend getting the bird feed when you're at reception desk as its a must to spot all the different breeds of ducks at the ponds . Level pathways must of the way , so if you've a pram it's easy managed . The play park in the forest is just perfect in the Autumn .only down side was the cafe is now closed at 2.30 on a Sunday . But plenty of spots you could sit, and bring a flask and a sandwich . Staff are always so pleasant. Plenty of hand sanitizers at different spots Dogs not allowed . Great gift shop
