   A True Country Gem: The Shepherd and Dog in Fulking! I can't recommend The Shepherd and Dog highly enough. Tucked away beautifully in the heart of Fulking, right on the edge of the stunning South Downs, this is everything a perfect English pub should be—and more. The food here is truly outstanding. Every dish we tried, from the classic pub mains to the seasonal specials, was cooked to perfection. It’s clear they use high-quality, fresh ingredients, delivering a culinary experience that goes well beyond standard pub grub. If you’re hungry after a walk, this menu is a spectacular reward! What elevates this place even further is the warmth of the hospitality. The staff are incredibly friendly; they are attentive, welcoming, and genuinely happy to help. But the real magic is the atmosphere created by the wonderful people who frequent the pub—locals and visitors alike. It has a fantastic, community-focused buzz that makes you feel instantly at home.    We popped in on an off chance after walking at devils dike. We were instantly welcomed by two lovely ladies who were very friendly and helpful. A wonderful selection of locals beers and dog friendly. Would definitely come back to try the food!

   The Shepherd & Dog is a charming countryside pub with a picturesque setting in Fulking. There’s plenty of space both indoors and out, with a large terrace and garden area that's perfect for sunny days. If you’re planning to eat inside, it’s worth booking ahead, as tables can fill up quickly. The food was decent, though not particularly memorable, good for a casual meal but not quite hitting the mark for those looking for something special. Still, the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful surroundings make it a pleasant spot for a drink or a laid-back lunch. I paid my sunday roast and half pint £23 There's a small parking but arrive in advance

   Excellent village pub, what a gem! During our ramble along the South Downs we booked here for lunch on Saturday. Very popular, good reasonably priced menu, we both had chicken curry pie which was lovely. Extensive beer selection. Friendly & professional staff made our lunch time most enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this pub.

   Absolutely beautiful and old style pub looks magnificent and perfect place to spend your afternoon/evening. All the staff were very welcoming and super friendly. Food was exceptional and super delicious and so the dessert was super delicious too. Absolutely recommend to everyone.

   I have always driven past but never had the opportunity of stopping and enjoying such a lovely place. We opted for the Sunday roast, it did not disappoint! We had a beef and a pork roast and our son had fish and chips. Beautifully cooked, plenty of sides and good portion of meats, Yorkie was good too! Has outdoor seating at various points, lovely garden tucked away to the right of the pub through car park with its own bar. Great selection of lagers and ales. Highly recommend a visit!
