Vibrant and welcoming village pub with cosy rooms and food well above your standard pub grub level.stayed on Saturday on way to family do and had super time. Best of all the friendly welcome from Grace and her hardworking staff and the locals. It was great to be met and served with a smile. Particularly the lovely waitress Bess (might of got name wrong) but you’ll know who I mean if you visit. Thanks all.

Went for tea not realising it was the annual fig pie rolling wake , needless to say it was packed. We did book in advance so managed to get a table , the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was excellent, it was a limited menu because of the event but still plenty of choice, we didn't have to wait too long neither so overall really impressed, will definitely be going again.

We were passing and called in for Sunday lunch. The food was superb, well cooked, large portions, beautifully presented and for a very reasonable price. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back.

The food and drinks were nice, but service let it down a bit. the waitress was lovely but only one server on a Saturday night was too much for one member of staff serving all the tables. It was generally going well up until we had finished our mains (which we thought were big considering we went for the smaller size but dismissed it as generous portions). It took a while for plates to be cleared due to the only server being too busy, another staff member came and put logs on the fire but didn’t assist with table clearing. Our bill showed large sizes of our meals but we ordered small so we had this changed to reflect what we ordered. Overall a nice meal but slightly spoilt by short staffing and mistake on the bill.

Had our Valentines Day meal here. Absolutely spectacular food for a pub meal. Even had a dessert which was lovely too. Very friendly, hospitable staff.

I stayed for 2 nights at the red lion and enjoyed my stay. Room was cosy and well equipped. Had cooked breakfast which was freshly prepared and delicious as well as dinner one night. Recommend for an escape close to Nantwich and Crewe
