   Sunday Roast dinner - We’re doing the rounds of visiting different city pubs for a roast, seeing which are best value, tasty and generally would we go back again.. The Crown is warm and cosy inside, nice atmosphere and dog friendly (and cat). Staff busy but polite and efficient in service. Food came quickly. Roasts (beef and pork) were generally disappointing though. Beef slices were generous (3) and Yorkshire pudding big, light and tasty. Pork belly portion was small. Unfortunately veggies were the let down. Two small roast potatoes and one half of a carrot each plus what was probably a spoonful of red cabbage and something else. Gravy as thin as water. We paid for extra cauliflower cheese, which was hotter than the sun; nice, but should have been included really. A disappointing roast and we felt lacked value. Increase the amount of veggies, improve the quality and quantity of gravy and would be way better. The Blackhorse and White lion knock this out of the park and are our joint leaders at the moment! On to the next!

   Food was good, but some of it was served at different temperatures so some of the roasties were a bit cold compared to other foods on the plate. The waitress who served us food and the bar tender who welcomed us were really friendly and professional. The waitress who took our money was a little… off with us? She made a funny face to her colleague after we paid, and didn’t come across as very hospitable or like she had the time for us, really I don’t know but it kind of threw us off at the end. Will try the Rosebury next time for a roast as I know they are the same kitchens but probably different chefs/waitresses.

   Great lively atmosphere later in a Sunday afternoon. Cosy pub doing great roasts. The 3 meat version was delicious as were the chicken dinners. The cauliflower cheese is a great addition to any roast. Will be back.

   First time visiting today. Fancied a roast and Trowse is a stones throw from Norwich. Read a few of the reviews before going to see if it’s dog friendly but ended up calling to be sure. Definitely dog friendly. Roast was delicious and fairly priced in today’s terrible economy. Whilst not strictly on the menu, our dog Benji kindly got his own little roast dinner to bring home. Should add it as an option on the menu for like £5 or something. Some reviews mention parking which I can understand but there’s a fair amount of road parking nearby and it’s not bad enough to put us off coming again. We just got lucky to get a spot in the car park which holds around 8/10 cars. Easy 5/5 and we will come again.

   Very friendly staff, dog friendly and pizzas are served at weekends, including vegan. Lovely pub. Meals back to normal as from 1st September 2022.

   Came for a quick drink having not been there before. Lovely shady courtyard at back and sunny area with tables out front. Will return to try food at a later date. Good range of real ales.

   Really friendly and helpful staff, we ate dinner in the lovely courtyard at the back, but there was lots of space to enjoy a drink or a meal. Good choice on the menu and the food was really tasty. We would definitely come back.
