Ordered for Christmas eve and was the best Chinese we've ever had. Not greasy at all and didn't feel we had a 'dirty takeaway' the next day. Reasonable price but wouldn't pay more. Will definitely be ordering again.

I’m not sure what planet these people who left the 1 star reviews are on but this was one of the best Chinese takeaways I’ve eaten at. The chicken chow mein, veggie spring rolls and special fried rice were great, nothing special but definitely got the job done. The real stars were the salt and pepper squid and Szechuan chicken, hands down the best I’ve had. The squid had great texture and balance of seasoning, not to mention the perfectly diced onions and chilli’s(many places give you huge pieces!) The Szechuan chicken easily the best takeaway Szechuan in the city, proper spice level good amount of chilli’s, sauce, perfect sized chicken and veggies and great selection of veggies too. The young lady who served me was really polite, patient and overall nice. Definitely going back!
Food is good, but the service is awful. They always get the order wrong, including a regular meat instead of a vegan one (it has happened before). And then you have to wait for them to redo the order, while the rest of the food sits there and gets cold. It's not really what you want when you order food out.
Has this place been taken over? Order monthly, But last order not the quality I'm used to, Portions Not that good, Smaller, Even rice, was not impressed, Not sure what the problem is, Maybe a bad day for the Chefs, Can confirm totally under Par, quality and quantity, Shame if this is going to be the Norm' ?, I support all local traders, But £56 and Disappointed dishes, Portion sizes I do hope we get "Back" to our China Star we are all used to, Lets hope we do not loose this place, Charge another 50p-£1 and make the dishes as before.. It's still cheaper than a Fish and Chip Takeout... And healthier .....
Website was easy to use and food was ready quick. Egg fried rice was smaller than expected but still good to eat
Gave me and partner food poisoning even though we only ate small amount as was disgusting. I ordered for 7.15pm as partner was back at 7pm. They showed up 6pm I sent away then they returned and as I feared had kept the some order sat there for an hour reheated it and sent it back to us. It cost £41 and most went in bin as it tasted so oily and dry. Won't probably order Chinese ever again as was then up all night throwing up.
I ordered a meal at 5pm for delivery at 7.30pm . It arrived at 5.15pm! I clearly told the driver I look forward to seeing him later. He apparently told his Boss we did not want it so they cancelled my order. I reordered the meal at 7pm which they emailed me had been accepted. Then they emailed me again to say the order had been cancelled. Please don't use this company
My favourite Chinese. I've been enjoying China star for years. Recently I have had to go dairy free. I called the restaurant before I ordered to check my dietary requirements. They were really helpful and provided me with the info I needed. Once ordered the food arrived on time, hot, fresh and so tasty.
I ordered a duck chef special from here not expecting much (because of the reviews) as it was close but to my surprise the service was immaculate. You can tell its a family run business because he had his kids running the front desk. They were more customer facing and reasonable than most adult staff Ive had dealings with! The food itself was bang on for the price you pay and collection is a 30 minute wait, if that!
