This is our local restaurant being only 5 mins walk from the house. We were there on Christmas Eve. They played Christmas songs which was nice. Food was really good and generous portions great friendly service. The only reasons I didn't give 5 stars for everything is that the decor needs tidying up as it is a litter scruffy in places. I would recommend and will go back

I approached our latest order from Lounge India with a raised eyebrow. Recent online commentary had suggested a once-reliable restaurant had lost its way. After some months, naturally, we decided to try for ourselves. If this is decline, it’s a curious one. The lamb dansak arrived darkly spiced and properly tangy, the lentils doing what lentils should do: thickening the sauce without turning it to sludge. The lamb itself was tender but not anonymous, retaining both texture and dignity. The chicken tikka masala was creamy without being infantilised by sugar, its smokiness still audible beneath the sauce. A peshwari naan was blistered, light, and generously stuffed - not the sad, breaded envelope of regret one so often encounters. The poppadoms cracked cleanly, as poppadoms ought to. There does appear to be new ownership, as others had suggested under baited breath. If so, the kitchen has either inherited the old recipes intact or improved upon them. Which makes one wonder what exactly provoked the recent barrage of criticism. A genuine wobble? A bad night? Or a suspicion of new ownership? Prices may have crept up - though then again, so has the pessimism of other restaurant-goers. Still, the quality here is just enough to justify the bill. On this showing, Lounge India remains mostly unscathed, and confidently among the best local Indian takeaways. Reports of its demise, it seems, have been greatly exaggerated.

We’ve been using Lounge India for years, both dining in and ordering frequent takeaways. The quality of the food has nosedived recently, so we’ve been using them far less. Tonight, we thought we’d give them one last chance. My wife pre-ordered the food an hour before they opened, and arrived half an hour after they opened, to collect the food at the agreed time. Almost an hour later, she was still sat waiting for it, constantly being told ‘five more minutes’. She told them we had three young children waiting for their dinner, and the owner’s response was to give her a bottle of Cobra. Requests for a discount were refused, with my wife being told by the owner ‘Go home and eat, you are hungry’. Tonight was their last chance, and they won’t be getting another one. It’s a shame to see how far they’ve fallen. The arrogance of their owner unfortunately only made things worse. If I were the owner, I would be very concerned about the poor reputation Lounge India has been getting around the village recently, and focusing my efforts on that, not on insulting and belittling loyal customers. We’ve tried too many times to give them the benefit of the doubt. Never again.

I visited Lounge India in Marston Moretaine last week for a catch-up dinner with some close friends, and it turned out to be such a great evening. The staff were really helpful with recommendations, and everything we ordered was spot on. If you’re unsure what to go for, I’d definitely suggest letting them guide you. To start, we shared a few plates — the tandoori king prawns were absolutely delicious, the vegetable samosas were crisp and full of flavour, and the paneer tikka was a big hit with everyone at the table. We also tried the mixed grill, which was packed with different meats and cooked beautifully. For mains, I went for the chicken tikka masala, which was rich and creamy, while one of my friends had the lamb balti that was full of spice and depth. Another stand-out was the prawn korma, which was wonderfully smooth and fragrant. We paired everything with a mix of pilau rice, mushroom rice, and some fresh naan breads — the garlic naan in particular was incredible. I’ve been a few times before, and the warm welcome from the staff is always consistent, which makes the experience even better. My friends really enjoyed their evening, and it was a perfect spot for us to relax, eat, and have a good time. I’d definitely recommend Lounge India to anyone looking for authentic Indian food in a friendly setting.

I had a lovely experience at this restaurant this past weekend for my dad’s birthday. We ordered quite a lot that was recommended by the staff, all of which I was extremely happy with, if you’re ever unsure on what to order just trust their recommendations. For starters we all really enjoyed the lamb chops, chicken pakora, meat samosas were particularly very good, chicken wings and onion bhaji. For mains we had the lamb rogan Josh, it was cooked really well and very tender, the king prawn jalfrezi was really flavoursome and a good level of spice, the chicken madras was very very nice all the spices went very well together, the chicken bhuna was exceptionally tasty. We ordered a lot of the rice side dishes and I loved the pilau and garlic rice. I’ve been coming here for years and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming, my dad loved his birthday experience and we had a lovely family day out. Would highly recommend this family business for locals and anyone looking for a good restaurant serving Indian food.

Really disappointing. Ordered food to be delivered. We were told there would be an hours wait which we were fine with; however when the food came it was cold and the popadoms had been crushed so much they were practically dust. Had to reheat all the food. Bland, over priced and extremely disappointing for a take away treat. Will not be returning.

I’ve never had a bad meal at this restaurant. One of the servers is a tad grumpy (every time) but we don’t let that affect our time out. I’ve dined in and had delivery … awesome every time. I would definitely recommend

Best Indian for miles. The staff are so welcoming and friendly even when they are very busy. Usually collect but have sat down for food too. Food is always hot and fresh.

Absolutely disappointed. We read the reviews and heard the other locals raving about it so thought we would give it a go. Never again! We ordered online. Loved the sound of the menu. When we arrived to collect it, we waited for well over an hour to be given our food! The restaurant was being prioritised over the take aways rather than it being done properly. Soon the take away orders added up and a large amount of people were arriving and waiting around to collect their meals. The staff gave up telling people timings on their orders! Would not recommend at all!
