Being totally factual and objective. The refresh is great and has a more upmarket feel than before. Improved disabled blue badge parking has a big thumbs up. The greeting was good, kind and welcoming. Asked for a table with chairs and we got that as we both have mobility issues. Very comfortable seats but a wonkey table didn't help but this was rectified with wedges from the staff. Why not fix the wonkey table first? The mushroom soup was excellent. The main tradtional christmas fare was OK but spoilt by over cooked potatoes that were very hard. Asked for more gravy and it came but was different to the gravy on the plate. The deserts (sticky toffee and christmas pud) were awful and we had to wait 15 mins and reminded the staff. The sticky toffee pudding was about 3 inch square for nearly Β£8, far too expensive. The waiting staff were indifferent from calling us "Guys" all the time. My wife is not a "Guy". Literally shoving food across at us without any expression was not good either. The assistant Mangeress did rectify the issues but it's a shame really as we are local and want to support local businesses. I don't put these niggles down to soft opening as they are far more fundamental than that. In today's tight budgetary times people expect service to be stand out to obtain repeat business. A smile, engagement from staff, constantly looking out to what needs doing rather than using the service counter as a meeting point. It really is a few things that could make this place a stand out in Alsager. However the attention is in the detail and slow service with inconsistency in food quality, quantity and price point will let the place down. We'll watch with interest from social media, friends and family to see what the overall response is before we'll come back.

We booked for a Christmas Day meal this year after many years of contemplating dining out. Sorry to say it was a huge disappointment and everyone in our party had the same experience. The table preparation left a lot to be desired and other than a cracker looked no different from any other day. I could go into the details for each course in turn, which was mixed at best, but overall it wouldnβt be positive feedback. The main course warrants more of a mention. The picture is an example of what everyone was presented with. People can make their own mind up how theyβd feel about being presented with a plate like this on Christmas Day. The turkey was ok but the rest was served in small portions. A single piece of carrot & parsnip, a few sprouts, 3 small roast potatoes and a single pig in blanket and a single small stuffing ball. All combined the vegetables and βtrimmingsβ barely filled half the plate and to top it all off the food was served lukewarm on barely warm plates and the presentation left a lot to be desired. The picture shows a plate swimming in (watery) gravy while another person barely got any at all. Nobody in our group enjoyed their main course which ultimately is what the Christmas meal is all about. At the end nobody came round to offer the mince pies and coffee that was included on the menu but by then weβd all had enough and just wanted to leave. To round off our experience when we came to pay we were overcharged by Β£40 for drinks that we hadnβt had. I only realised this after paying because I asked for a till receipt. This was corrected when I brought it to their attention but it shouldnβt have happened anyway when people had to give their table number to order drinks from the bar. We ate at the Wilbraham last December as part of a large group of 90 for a Christmas Party and the experience then was much better than yesterday. Nice food, decent portions and nicely presented. What we experienced yesterday was nothing like last time hence the overall rating Iβve given. Including drinks the meal cost more than Β£500 which I sadly consider to be a waste of money. Suffice to say this was the first and the last time we will eat at the Wilbraham on Christmas Day.

Plenty of parking available on-site. The atmosphere was warm and cosy, a welcoming atmosphere. There was plenty of choice in the menu, something for everyone. We didnβt have to wait long for the food. The food was tasty and generous portion. It was a great pub and recommend to anyone looking for a pub for a cheap meal out.

We had booked for a table on our walk, and we got there a bit early before opening, but tables outside to sit on. It started to fill pretty quickly, all the food we ordered was delicious and cooked perfectly no complaints from any of us and we were a group of 5. Even some drinks came quirky. Would definitely go again.
