This has to be the best place to eat and sleep we have ever been to. The pub is beautifully decorated as was our gorgeous room, Sycamore. Scott looked after us at dinner and had only worked there for 2 weeks, he was so warm, welcoming and professional, nothing was too much trouble and catering for my non-dairy diet was very much appreciated! The food is nothing short of spectacular, hard to decided between so many impressive dishes, we cannot wait to visit again, the most perfect pub with Michelin star standard food included! Thank you for creating such a special place which we love!!

We met some friends at The Bear for lunch today - it was absolutely wonderful. The food is sublime, and I cannot recommend highly enough - it was all wonderful, but, as an example, the dessert - a Christmas pudding tart with brandy anglais. I chose this as I feel distinctly un- christmassy, and I felt I should go for it - I'm not mad on Christmas pudding, or mince pies, and loathe Christmas. This dessert was unbelievable - it evoked memories of my childhood festivities, of family, tinsel, multi-coloured lights, log fires, clove studded oranges ....I could have shed a tear, it was so delightful. That is just an example - one thing is for sure, whatever you eat, you will never be disappointed. Chloe and her team make you feel so special, they are knowledgeable, interested, interesting, kind, reactive and welcoming. The Bear is absolutely THE BEST place to eat for miles around.

Absolutely amazing. We had stayed the previous 2 endings at a high class hotel. The Bear was half the price and twice as good. The chefs are superb and the staff are excellent. We cannot wait to go back. X

We were visiting family near Hodnet and had a one night stay in The Bear Inn, it was just wonderful. Beautifully decorated well appointed room, gorgeous toiletries, super comfy bed and extremely quiet. The breakfast was outstanding too, lots of choices and all perfectly cooked. There was nothing we disliked about our stay, and the very warm and friendly welcome from the lovely staff ensures that we will definitely be returning!

Lovely welcome. Spent 2 nights there as a gift. Lovely friendly staff. Beautiful rooms. Fabulous food ...probably some of the best we have had, both set lunch and breakfasts. The lovely Hodnet Hall just across the road...do not pass that by and the beautiful village church. Would def return to the Bear Inn and recommend to others and I can't say that about many places for food tbh or accommodation in the Midlands. Alison and Sandra particularly lovely at breakfasts and hats off to all the team members behind the scenes... excellent!

Brilliant, loved our stay. A very unassuming building from outside near the road, but come around the corner and a lovely garden area with plenty of seating, some of it covered. A bike rack is available. The outbuilding has been converted to 5 bedrooms, and I would expect they are as well designed and decorated as the rooms that we stayed in the main building/pub. Staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful with great service. Well stocked bar with plenty of seating that opens up in to a large dining space. Evening meal was amazing, great choices and lovely flavours. We chose Tanner's wines as they are a local and a well renowned wine merchant and didn't disappoint. The wine accompanied Ox cheek for me and duck for my wife. Lovely dessert choices to follow, great warmed brandy and coffee. Breakfast was amazing as well, served with a complimentary platter of fruit scones, butter with blue cheese and a sliced salami sausage. I chose corned beef hash, but not as you think, but with beef brisket. It was superb. A small loaf cooked that morning with butter and marmalade or marmite. We loved our 24 hours, great place, people, food & drink, all with high levels of service and a friendly smile. Definitely recommend, and we will be back. Be aware, they do not open Sundays, it's the staff day off !

We did not even get to this pub for our stay as my friend was very poorly so we were unable to go. Unfortunately the experience of trying to cancel and re-book was so unpleasant that we have decided that this is not a place that we would wish to stay at. I tried contact the pub to re-schedule within the time frame to avoid a cancellation fee but they were closed and did not get back to me until it was too late. Anthony's attitude was somewhat gleeful that he was not willing to accommodate another available booking and was very speedy to charge us £160 for this unavoidable cancellation. With such awful customer service I can only assume their hospitality would be equally unpalatable. When there are so many lovely places to stay I would encourage anyone to explore beyond here.

Stayed one night midweek. Room was in the adjacent barn .Room was called "willow ".A lot of individual styling had gone into the room. Very clean and newish. Bed very comfortable. Room just a little small. Had dinner there. Excellent food. Menu needed a bit of concentration to work through! Helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was included in the price. Somewhat limited in starter choice. The whole building has been fully refurbished to a very high standard and with a lot of attention to detail.
