A lovely Caffè Nero with a relaxed vibe, great coffee and the perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by!
Terrible service from the male barista here. Tried to redeem Vitality free coffee voucher but had a surcharge which I had to pay directly for extra toppings. This has never happened before and in the Ts and C's it clearly says that extra toppings are included in the free voucher. The male staff member was incredibly rude and dismissive when questioning. I spoke to my friend who works in the local area and he said that he heard this staff member saying to his colleague that they don't get a bonus for free coffees. I would assume therefore that he purposely put the toppings through the till separately to try to get the drink added to his bonus figures. On the plus side my friend also heard him say he was leaving the company. Good riddance and well done Caffe Nero for getting rid of this despicable loser.
A nice little coffee shop tucked away on the corner. Offers seating inside with a good selection of hot and cold drinks. There's also a nice variety of snacks on offer.
Complete contrast to the friendly welcome I always get in the Western Road one. Upon walking in and ordering a Pistachio frappe I was advised they don't do frappes anymore, and would I like an iced latte instead. Despise them being on the board and frappe just being crushed ice which they had, this is simply because she was being lazy. The face of thunder on her told it all. Went to one in Bond Street 2 minutes away and they made exactly what I asked for with a smile.
Had a coffee and cake excellent service on a busy day
My only criticism is in Brighton and hove the nero toilets are often out of order. As public toilets are closing it makes it impossible to visit your coffee shops. Sort them out.
Sad to say I've just had the "experience" of being served by the surliest, rudest & most unhelpful Nero's employee (I cannot describe him as a barista) it's been my misfortune to encounter. At 5:45 pm (closes 6.30 pm) there were no chairs or tables outside - despite it being warm & balmy Brighton evening. They were all stacked inside, making navigation with hot coffees extremely dangerous. The employee in question stood by & watched his female colleague do all the work. Eventually, as I had been kept waiting, he reluctantly took my order. I asked for an additional tea pot of hot water, he gave me a tiny thimble size container. I politely asked again for a tea potful, he then poured the tiny amount of water into a small espresso takeaway cup. He put an additional thimble size amount of water in it & shoved it across the counter. So much for "customer service". Edited to add: this is the Nero's in 16 Prince Albert St, Brighton BN1 1HF. Avoid it if you actually want to enjoy your coffee.
Average coffee with polite staff and fast service. I prefer to buy coffee from local coffee shop but if I couldn’t find the local cafe I prefer Nero instead of other big name companies.
