Always great. Almost always busy with customers. Great selection of rotating beers on tap, most of them local. Food is cheap and actually decent. Bar games in the back

Welcoming staff, tasty food and wonderful atmosphere. Really enjoyed our lunch, we both had scampi and chips and enjoyed a genuine warm and friendly time here that is rare nowadays.

3 of us ladies what lunch called in here yesterday. It was warm and inviting with very pleasant lady behind the bar. We each had the steak, ale and mushroom stew, served with mash and fresh vegetables. All washed down by a nice bottle of red wine. Highly recommended.

We were passing through Lewes on Sunday evening and found this lovely traditional pub. We had excellent meals - homemade steak pie and nut roast. Served with superb vegetables, all cooked to perfection. Nice drinks too. The Harvey's ale was great. Very nice friendly welcome from Matilda and Will. Thank you. We will definitely recommend and return.

A first visit by Casta and Madge. I think I have been before. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular. Up to 8 real ales, six on my visit. Had the awful Kent brewery Pale.( Kent being toxic to a Sussex born Prince like me!) Actually very good. The front room was busy, the rear pool room quiet. Apparently been a pub from at leadt 1744.

Relaxed atmosphere, TV at back, log fire at front. Good beer. Not keen on the games evening and too many tables are reserved so not always possible to drop in for a quiet pint. Sadly. This trend of "booking" a pub table is silly, in my humble opinion.

Met two friends for drinks, lunch and a long-awaited catch up. It was quite busy but we had a table booked. Great, friendly service. An extensive menu with loads of choices. My friends had scampi & chips and the chips were delicious!! I could have made a better choice this time. I had the satay chicken & rice with prawn crackers which was very tasty with loads of chicken. However, I had thought it would have a satay sauce so was rather dry for my liking. My fault for not checking beforehand. I would definitely go again and just have something different. The burgers looked really good.

I went to this pub to escape from a heavy rain. The staff was friendly and the the atmosphere good. I got a tea and fish and chips. The food was the worst part of my experience... I paid for it 13£ and the fish was very small and had a funny part which was inedible, the "mushy" peas looked like just defrost green peas. The chips were surely defrost too. I guess the pub might be fine for a beer but I wouldn't go back for fish and chips for sure.
