Amazing food - pie was incredible. Gorgeous log fire, beams, character, comfy seats, great playground and big car park

This is how service should be done! All round amazing experience. Service was spot on, served by a lovely jolly team. Took time to build rapport, did check backs. Food was absolutely amazing so fresh! Cosy table by the fire as requested and they even bought out a little surprise cake and candle. They make you feel welcome here and the service definitely live up to that expectation! Will definitely be returning.

Busy village pub with locals AND hikers. It was buzzing on a Saturday afternoon with families out, but despite this busy chaos the staff kept it all together. The Gluten-free fish and chips was wonderful, crispy and fresh. The pasta special with Corgettes (added chicken) was a hearty post hike meal. Good ale choices. Definitely, a great reward after a long day on the South Downs.

A warm and welcoming country pub with plenty of charm. We sat outside in the spacious garden, which was buzzing with life on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Despite being busy, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. We ordered the pork belly roast, which was absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked and full of flavour. A great spot to enjoy good food, friendly service, and beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended for a proper country pub experience.

Lovely pub. We had an absolutely gorgeous lunch here. Large portioned, well-presented, absolutely delicious, traditional English food. Perfect for finishing our chilly blustery and rainy walk. Reasonably priced. (£70 for 4 adult meals, 4 drinks, and a couple of coffees). There was a bit of a wait for food, but was well worth it. A highlight of our visit to England. Thank you.

Beautiful pub and garden in a lovely village. Service was good and it was very busy but food was mediocre at best. Had a roast dinner, lamb was tough, potatoes dried out and veg not overly exciting. Perhaps it was just a very busy service therefore under pressure so would give it a second chance but on the day definitely not worth the money. Staff were lovely and very helpful and it's dog friendly too which is great.

We had the most wonderful family lunch yesterday and Bliss and her team were absolutely fantastic. She had thought of everything to make it so special with balloons and confetti which was a lovely surprise. All the meals and service was excellent and all our family wanted me to say a big thank you. Will will definitely be coming back again hopefully very soon. Janet and John Mills

I love this place so much. Been going for years and years! Must say todays food was not up to their usual high standard at all. The Burrata salad was a joke. £15 for an old bland dry and not a fresh creamy burrata cheese ball with five thin slices of tomato and sweet cinnamon flavoured dough that didn’t work was a waste of money. Didn’t mention cinnamon on the menu at all. My roast beef looked good with two nice thick slices of meat but was way over cooked and dry with lots of gristle. Round sliced carrots like at school dinners was not good either. Will go back and put it down to an off day but the standards have slipped today.

Friendly team who coped well with a group of cyclists. Great food with a good selection from upmarket sandwiches to full meals. Well kept Harvey's ale. Useful cycle racks and electric charging points
