   We used RJ Meaker a couple of weeks ago to replace 4 fences and install a new gate. Fantastic service, easy to arrange quote and the two gents working on site were very good. The work was completed within the day and the guys cleaned up and left the garden in a better condition that we had seen before. Great to support a local company and would definitely recommend them.

   Having had 2 gates fitted 6 months prior, given the workmanship and service I received then, I decided to use R.J Meaker again to deck the top part of my garden. I was confident I didn't need to shop around, so placed the order as soon as I received their quote. Second time around they did not fail to deliver! The decking has transformed my garden!    Replaced two of my fences and cannot speak too highly of their professionalism and quality of work. One of my neighbours is difficult and refused to let them step on his land, but they were tactful and did a brilliant job in spite of him. (Just popped into the Portslade shop for some timber and they were helpful too with good advice.)

   I would have given 5 stars, but as 3 panels are a few inches lower than the rest of the panels I gave 3 stars. I have had fencing done 3 times in the last 30 years. Both times in the past they made all the fencing panels exactly the same height, as our garden is level not sloping. I assumed it would be the same, so I did not mention it when they started working. That was a big mistake. We were so disappointed to see 3 panels lower than the rest of the fence. But it was too late, so we had no choice but to accept it. Their workmanship is generally very good, especially how they secured the base with concrete. I am sure it will last for years to come. I will use them again, but next time I will make sure to tell them I would like to have all the fencing panels to be exactly the same height. They said that it was too late, and for that reason we were left disappointed. It’s a shame because it could have been a perfect job.

   Went to Portslade branch this morning for a couple of Concrete Spurs and postcrete. Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent service and their prices are very reasonable. Would not go anywhere else for any fencing supplies. Highly recommended.

   Used this well known local company to fit a new tongue and groove gate and was disappointed. Company provided the quote fairly quickly and the price was not overly excessive for what I expected to be a good product. Firstly, in my opinion, their communications are very poor - not even sure if they read their email and the whole company feels like it is stuck in the 1960s with no ability to take payment over the phone. More importantly, after the first attempt to fit the gate I had to have it sent back to get it remade so that there were no gaps and to repair the poor finish. Frustratingly, a few days after it was fitted I noticed another gap between one of the timbers with clear daylight showing through. Emailed them to report the problem twice and never had a response. Finally sorted it out myself and feel I should have just made it all myself.
