Fabulous little find on our quest to taste pub roast dinners in Norwich. Service efficient from booking all the way through to the end of our meal. Staff very pleasant and happy to help. Thank you Leva! Roast was lovely, home cooked and great value. Just the right amount of everything and the cauliflower cheese was an unexpected and just wonderful bonus. We had beef and pork belly; vegetables spot on and gravy just right (with an extra boat!) and homemade big yorkie. Couldn’t fit in pudding but I assume would be just as good; perhaps next time and yes definitely there will be a next time! So far top of our list and we’ve done a few and will continue but this is the only one we’ve said we’d go back to. Although black horse was very good to be fair! Big compliments to the kitchen and bar staff at Golden Star. Do try this pub if you haven’t already! Thank you and we’ll be back!

Look the pub is lovely. Staff are usually fantastic and the beer is brilliant. Really great atmosphere and cozy vibe. But the food completely let the place down. Burnt and small portions that were the price of what you’d see in London. Giving it a three as the place is nice otherwise. But don’t get the food.

It's a really lovely welcoming pub with good beer, friendly staff, a quality Sunday roast and a nice atmosphere. Defo my favourite pub in Norwich!

A cosy pub with the feel of a proper local, the likes of which you might not expect to find so close to a city centre. 4 cask ales on the day I visited: Greene King Abbott plus 3 other beers all from Norfolk/Suffolk independent breweries. The Nethergate and the Lacons I had were spot on! (My only slight gripe might be that all 4 cask beers on offer were amber ales, but maybe that's what the clientele like, so who am I to comment?) A huge plus point was the way the bar and the whole pub had been so enthusiastically decorated for Halloween with old fashioned paper chains. Discovering a bar billiards table in the other bar was the icing on the cake. A quick chat with Simone, the barmaid who gave off vibes of being the landlady, and was clearly part of the furniture, cemented the fact that this pub definitely has the "wow factor". Highly recommended!

A really nice, traditional pub not too far from the city centre. Good food menu and roast options, and friendly bar staff. Will definitely be coming back here again soon

Great selection of local beer. Also has a welcoming open fire. We'll behaved dogs and children also welcome. They also have good beer festivals and summer bbqs which are great. Well worth a visit.

Great little pub, had Sunday lunch a few times now. Food hot and like you’d cook at home, fresh, veg, good quality meat and tasty cauliflower cheese. Really well priced, staff really nice and music always bang on! If you’ve not been, the your missing a trick.

A fabulous little find. It felt just like the 'local' pubs of old with lovely staff and customers. A special mention of Simone who was friendly, chatty and welcoming. Great atmosphere and tasty 'homecooked' food with a good selection of vegetarian options. Well worth a visit.

Really delicious meal - fantastic Sunday lunch, the staff couldn't do enough for us, especially on a very busy day. Slightly annoyed that we couldn't all sit together hence 4 stars, but we were a party of 10. Food was generously portioned, hot and when we needed more veg we just asked.
