Terrible shop, rude unhelpful and arrogant attitude. The customer service is absolutely disgusting, should not be offering a service they are not able to deliver adequately and with manners. AVOID

I ordered some stuff from very and decided to have it delivered her due to the open times as I work long hours and went to pick them up today to told not to have my big parcels delivered there. Well I won't be now so rude I've never been to this shop before and I won't again if I could give a half star I would.

AVOID AVOID AVOID !! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! They donβt accept large parcels. But are the only shop for yodel. I first went to this shop in August 2025 and they STILL had Christmas 2024 sweets. Maybe instead of declining parcels they should accept them to avoid bad reviews.

Usually friendly shop, but not great at communicating - for example, turns out they donβt allow dogs, but also donβt have that posted publicly with signage. I was kicked out abruptly without being able to say anything (how would this have worked with a support dog, for example)?

It's good for what I needed to go there for however I would go elsewhere if there was an option closer by. The cache is often rude. Which is a shame as it's a standalone store and the only one before town.

Prices are high, you can only pay by card from five pounds or above so not a good place to buy a quick snacks at work without pocket money. I bought their samosas. They were not freshly made, like one or even two days old and more expensive than in other shops, with barely visible filling. Once I have been there, I saw sales assistant unpacking cheapest, discounted grapes from one of the famous supermarkets and putting them in the basket loose, for way much bigger price.

My parents opened this shop in the mid 1950βs and we lived in the flat above, no.3. All of my childhood memories revolve around here up until I was 10 years old. The storeβs name then was A&J Pickerill, we didnβt have a car and my mum would walk with deliveries every lunchtime to customers. My father was able to start the business thanks to a loan from Sir Frank Sanderson who lived in the Manor House down the lane (now converted to flats) where he is buried in the private family plot at the church. My father was chauffeur to Sir Frank before that. I believe the loan was Β£3,000 but I might be wrong. It was interest free and repaid within 3 years.

Staff treat you very friendly, interesting in building repours with customers.. I'm a traffic warden who needed an energy drink but was minimal of 5 pound on card so he said take it now and bring the 35p on another day... He completely forgot but once he remembered his face beamed with trust... Great products easy too find and assistance always available! I'd give them 10*
