   Bit of a hit and miss. We go to the old garages regularly and love it there so thought would give it a try here. Some food items were incredible (roast dinner and pot pie) others were not up to standard. The beef noodle dish was sent back due to be extremely bland and bad quality especially for the high prices they are charging. The roast was amazing except the Yorkshire puddings were definitely not fresh. Very stale and burnt. Sadly to top it off their version of apple crumble was anything but where was the crumble? It was basically hot fruit with oats sprinkled on top. Couldn’t eat it. Custard was great tho! We went on Sunday afternoon and the place was notably dead with only 3 tables which makes me wonder if this is a consistent problem and not just a one off. Pub is aesthetically gorgeous, staff super friendly hopefully the food can get a bit better and this place would be great!

   Quite good for a half decent meal. Definitely improved slightly in food and it's overall branding/approach since 12 months ago when it was a bit all over the place. However, unacceptable to have charge for an 'optional' service charge without even mentioning it or showing the bill breakdown before taking payment from us. It left us feeling cheating out of money for something that really shouldn't be on the bill, discretionary or not. Leave people to tip if they want to tip and make it a true 'choice' by removing it (or at the very least alerting the customer to it when they Pay!)

   Genuinely one of the friendliest pubs we’ve been too. Staff couldn’t be more welcoming, food brilliant, dog friendly. We were staying locally at Welltrough Campsite and came for food and drinks on the Friday evening…so good we came back for breakfast on the Saturday and a drink after doing one of the suggested walks on their website.

   Thurday 6 Oct we did the walk from the car park over the fields with our family. Came back and had a beautiful meal here at the Old Pub food was amazing and we were made so welcome . We all had 3 course including the homemade butter and breads to start which was so tasty. We will definitely be back.

   I reviewed this pub as the Black Swan a couple of years ago….. it’s changed name and menus (but takes the reviews with it) and it is now significantly different on the food front.

   First time visiting, very impressed. Fantastic service, really friendly staff and very welcoming. We only walked there for a drink but stayed for dinner as we liked what we saw and were so glad we did. The food was fantastic, the beer and wine selection top notch. The atmosphere was relaxed and all other customers seemed to be in good spirits which topped it off. An unexpectedly brilliant evening, a big thank you to everyone involved at the Black Swan!
