We attended an Elvis tribute show last night and it was truly fantastic from beginning to end. It was so well organised and we met new like-minded people who immersed themselves into the celebration of ‘The King’.

We first went to Horsted Place Hotel in 2006 when we were looking for a wedding venue. We got married there in 2007 and over the years had 2 Christmases there as well as multiple birthdays, family meals and our 10th wedding anniversary. We came back when it reopened after lockdown and were... disappointed - the hiatus hadn't been kind to the place, the staff were all new and the food quality had slipped. But we've followed the new team's work on Facebook and recently have seen some exciting changes, so we went back. WOW! Just, WOW! The 'makeover' has really lifted the place, lighter, brighter and more 'modern' but still retaining the period features. The food was excellent - dare I say even better than it used to be. The staff were fabulous - well-presented, attentive and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble and small things such noting that we mentioned the English Breakfast Tea provided in the room was too floral for our taste... and sending up some standard 'proper brew' bags instead really made a big difference. Before our post-lockdown visit Horsted was always somewhere we'd recommend unreservedly... after the post-lockdown visit that was no longer the case... but after this latest visit - Horsted is BACK baby! As will we be...! 10/10

An Essential Encore: Horsted Place is the Only Place to Stay for Glyndebourne★★★★★ (5/5 Stars)Horsted Place Hotel is not merely accommodation; it is the quintessential, five-star prologue and epilogue to a perfect evening at the Glyndebourne Opera House. This magnificent Gothic Revival mansion, designed by Augustus Pugin, is steeped in heritage and offers a standard of luxury that is utterly unparalleled in the region. From the moment we arrived, we were transported. The tranquil, extensive grounds and the stunning architecture create an ambiance of refined seclusion—a true country bolthole. The location is flawless: close enough to Glyndebourne for an effortless transfer, yet secluded enough to provide a peaceful haven away from the summer crowds. The service is where Horsted Place truly shines. The staff are impeccably professional, attentive, and warm, anticipating needs with quiet efficiency. After the opera, returning to our luxurious, individually designed suite felt like an indulgence. Our room was spacious, beautifully furnished, and offered breathtaking views over the serene parkland. Most importantly for opera-goers, the 2 AA Rosette dining is superb. Whether enjoying a refined pre-opera dinner or a restorative late supper, the seasonal menu and elegant dining room are a match for any West End establishment. The culinary experience here is a destination in itself. For anyone planning a trip to Glyndebourne, Horsted Place provides a cohesive, magnificent, and unforgettable experience. It is, without question, the only place we will stay.Highly Recommended.

Felt like staying with the Lord and Lady Grantham. Without having to dress for dinner. A beautiful manor house located on many acres. A delightful tree lined lane takes you from the main road. The staff was welcoming and assisted with our luggage. We were told that our room, Windsor, was occupied by QEII during a previous visit. We ate dinner in the dining room overlooking the lawns and garden. Food was delicious, presented well, with attentive service. We found the pleasure we received from being at Horsted was so great we ate all our dinners there. It was a great base for our exploration of the region. We visited…….. We went to Brighton one day and greatly enjoyed the Royal Pavilion and a walking tour named The Brighton Story. It was recommended that we don’t drive into Brighton. There’s a lot of construction and parking is very dear (that means expensive). We drove 7 miles from Horsted Place, parked at a car park in Lewes, and took the bus. Very enjoyable. We felt so special at Horsted that should we return to this area we’ll definitely stay here.

Attended with friends, the night before a friends marriage! Prawn cocktail to start with delicious, the chocolate dessert with honeycomb was exceptional. I had the sea breem fish as a main course, which was a special, and exquisite. Highly recommend the side of garlic broccoli and a skinny fries. We were a table of 4, waiters/waitresses were young but didn’t show any signs of inexperience. I have played golf at ESN and lived in Uckfield for over 30 years and this is my first time eating here from recollection. It’s not cheap but the food is great, a nice little treat. I popped upstairs to have a look at my friends room after curiosity, great size and nicely presented (the room). Has everything you could possibly need and more. The furniture is of its time but equally in great condition which adds to the experience.

Stunning country house and location. Excellent service and traditional atmosphere. Some recent attempts to modernise are not appreciated. Food quality also appears down on before but overall experience still good.

I have visited the hotel several times over the last 10 years or so and felt it a privilege to have a glimpse of a life shared with the owner and the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. This grade two listed building had a soft traditional atmosphere and decor and immediately projected a feeling of comfort despite its royal connections. Last weekend I visited and was faced with the new internal redecorations. None complies with its grade 2 listing , it’s turned into a Grand Designs with contemporary light grey walls with Gold detailing, modern art poorly done and displayed. A bar that you would find in New York with two bar stools. The reception is a shelf in the main hall we’re anyone passing can overlook and hear , with the computer in full view. One of the bedrooms was being redecorated in Grey! again. The manager told me that a new management company had taken over the running of the hotel well my feelings are they are well on the way to ruining a beautiful house of great historic value . The staff were brilliant along with the service but I have now stopped selling the experience to my friends as the decorations have ruined the original ambiance of the house. Clearly the interior designer has little regard for the age of the building and is what I used to call a ‘catalogue designer’ following contemporary Illustrations in magazines. Please stop them before it’s too late!! and then I will return.

Lovely overnight stay. Very quiet hotel in a good location. Staff were friendly. We stayed in th Sussex suite which had views to the front of the building and golf course. Food was really nice, we had a Secret escapes deal so had a pre-dinner cocktail and a 3 course dinner from a set menu with lovely choices. Close to Lewes if you fancy a little wander in the antiques shops or want grab a bite to eat. Some lovely coffee shops to choose from. Would definitely return.

Food fabulous, from the canapés to the petits fours. The only slight issue with the food was the Yorkshire pudding that accompanied the roast beef dinner, it was so tough that it was inedible. It seemed that it might have been from lunchtime and had been reheated. It was so hard that it couldn't be cut with the cutlery available. The service was patchy, we were the only people in the restaurant initially but there were some basic errors such as lack of cutlery with dessert and no strainer for the chamomile tea using real flowers.
