I had wanted to sail down the Nile on a traditional felucca and I feel privileged to have found Au Fil du Nil through Responsible Travel. I had assumed, when booking this holiday in England, that I would have easily been able to book the same trip with other companies when I reached Egypt, but wanted the security of having booked it before flying out to Aswan. However, although I discovered that there are indeed a great many feluccas on the Nile, I only saw 3 other boats staying out for one night (and then returning), and simply no other feluccas continuing down the Nile for a 4 or 6 night trip. Karim and the rest of the crew not only have the licences to allow them to take us on a longer trip, but also have the sailing skills to negotiate the number of low bridges. I saw many large Nile cruisers and dahabiya, and again, I felt so grateful to have found Au Fil du Nil. On a felucca, we were able to peacefully glide down the Nile, and stop and swim every day. We could pull in where the large vessels could not, allowing us to visit villages off the beaten tourist track, visit the camel market, and have the opportunity to visit temples and sites with barely anyone else there. Sleeping only a few feet above the Nile, under the stars, having watched the sun set over the water, was simply magical and something I will never forget. I would watch the wading birds in the reeds in the early morning light, and look over the edge to watch the fish go past as the sun rose. Karim is a wonderful cook, and the food all the way through the trip was sublime - I think perhaps my favourite meal was the fresh caught fish, but it was all delicious, from the pancakes and omelet’s for breakfast, to the home made cooked lunches and dinners. The captain is a skilful navigator, Heshan helped us to book a hot air balloon for when we got back to Luxor, and all three looked after us brilliantly. Overall, I cannot think of a better way to experience Egypt. After the heat and hustle of the large sites, sailing sleeping and swimming in the cool tranquil Nile was simply delightful, and I cannot recommend the trip highly enough

Responsible Travel were the only ones I could find with partners in Montenegro who could offer a tailored itinerary covering the North of Montenegro as well as the more popular Kotor Bay locations. They also included a stay in Bosnia which was well worth it. Good value and good service.

We arranged our Namibia self drive trip with Faran Travel via Responsible Travel and the whole experience from first discussing our ideas for the holiday until the completion of our trip was first class. Josh listened to all our ideas and put together the perfect itinerary for us. The whole trip ran like clockwork with great input from the local team in Namibia. Definitely a 5 star experience.

Just completed my first volunteer project run by The Great Projects, a platform for animals sanctuaries around the world. I volunteered at the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Sanctuary in Borneo. It was a wonderful experience for those who are interested in responsible travel, who loves animals and want to contribute something to make a small difference.
