Staff couldn't be bothered to help. Just looked at me when I asked for assistance. The busiest looking person there turned out to be a customer...

We purchased a pair of trainers from the store in Hanley on 12/10/2025. She picked the correct size and tried them on in store to check. My Girlfriend wore them the following day when we went out for the day. Within twenty minutes the back of her heels were very sore and bleeding. We sat down to see what was happening and found that her heels had been rubbed that much that the skin had come off. It was very sore and looked a mess. We took them back to the store the following weekend for a refund and we were advised to email SportsDirect with pictures of the trainers and the receipt. These trainers were £36 after much jumping through hoops they offered us £10 as a gesture of goodwill. These are trainers that caused my girlfriends heels to bleed and the skin was rubbed away. The company just didn't care.

Very disappointing customer service at the billing counter. The lady at the till didn’t even bother to say “hi,” “please,” or “thank you.” No basic manners or friendliness at all. It felt rude and unprofessional — like customers don’t matter. A simple smile or polite word makes a big difference, but clearly that’s missing here. Definitely needs serious improvement in staff attitude and training.

Visited this store to buy school shoes and Gym bags for my kids. The staff is not helpful at all. A girl called Daniel was at the till, was so rude to me. I asked for the price of an item, she said to have a look by myself. Wouldn’t return to this store.

Every time I go in and buy a couple of t-shirts, they never honour the 2 for £15 or 2 for £20 offers saying that you "can't mix and match sizes" and there's "only one left " etc etc . Last time I forgot some socks and went back in 20 mins later and they had bought more shirts out when they said they hadn't got any so i couldn't get the offer. Be careful too as reduced items often have a second more expensive label on and the cheaper price will "vanish" at the check out. The store would be great if you only trust them not to try and rip you off every single time.

Incredible poor customer service. An item purchased a day before been refused to exchange or refund. Website assistant been unable to amend the store decision even the proof of purchase and the relevant picture been sent . I do not recommend store or company at all . The assistant close the chat before i got the chance to reply

Excellent customer service. Turned up at the Hanley branch of Sports Direct today to get advice and support on a somewhat complicated refund. I was swiftly referred to the manager who listened to my concerns and immediately looked into remedial action. I I came away from the store with the problem fully resolved. I felt completely listened to and cannot fault the very high service standards. The managers at this store are a credit to the Sports Direct company. Sincerely hope this feedback is picked up and the management team are recognised for their diligence and excellent customer service - thank you!

My family and I had an awful experience last week at this store. My daughter has recently started football lessons and so we took her to Sports Direct to buy a new pair of football boots. When we first arrived in the store we looked around and couldn't find any suitable boots. My husband then proceeded to ask at the desk on the top floor for some assistance. The store manager was behind the till and he couldn't have showed any less interest in helping us if he had tried. Which we found very strange considering we were there to make a purchase. We eventually found a pair of football boots by ourselves, which took ages as we had to search high and low. The main reason however for the bad review is for another reason. My daughter saw a football on the top floor of the store. She asked if she could have one and I agreed that she could after seeing the price tag of 24.99 which was clearly attached to the stand where the footballs were displayed. We then proceeded to the check out with our items. Once I got to the checkout the cashier said to me that the ball was £30.00. I explained to her that the balls were labelled up at £24.99. She then got the manager, the same one that we saw earlier. He argued with me and did not believe me that they balls were labelled up at £24.99. I had to practically force him to go upstairs to show him where the balls were displayed. Once we got there he just ripped the price tag off the stand and said it was an old one that hadn't been removed. There was no apology for the mix up and to be honest his attitude was appalling considering that he was representing the store. I was charged the £30.00 for the ball which I felt was unfair as it was in my opinion false advertising. I am deeply disappointed with how my family was treated in this store especially as it was meant to be a treat for my daughter and something that she had been looking forward to :-( very upset customer.

Very unprofessional staff, not helpful at all, i think this shop will close soon if they don't train their staff how to be polite and welcoming to customers.

It was awesome! There's a particular member of staff that's been helping me find my way around. First, it was swimming outfits for my preschooler, today it was wellies. And I got very beautiful ones. Thanks!
