Today I went in Evan Cycles to buy my first bike after years. Danny helped me a lot! Very patient person, respectful and reliable! Turned my experience very especial and I felt secure to make the deal! Going to collect Thursday next week. Thank you so much for help me my friend. God bless you all!

I had a really positive and very helpful experience from start to finish of buying a new bike. Bruno, Hamish and Danny were all super friendly at the various stages including helping me to select a bike, choosing the equipment right for me, testing out the bike fame size and making sure I had the right lock and insurance. They were also amazing at letting me know the various finance options and servicing packages available. I thought the updates provided by the central Evans service on delivery timeframes for my bike could have been a bit clearer/better, but when I called the store to check on in things, the service was super helpful and clear, and I got the updates I wanted. I'm really pleased with the new bike I have and am happy that I opted to add on the annual service package within the purchase. Would recommend Evans for your bike needs :)

I went to Evans in Brighton to buy an expensive electric bike. The in-store staff were helpful, but the whole experience was a nightmare. I chose to order through the shop so I could check the bike size properly (the website information was vague). To my surprise, Evans even charges customers for delivery to their own stores, but I accepted this and placed the order. The payment went through, then their system crashed. My order disappeared, no record, no receipt, nothing. The staff did their best and called Customer Services (who weren’t interested), Retail Support (who said it wasn’t their problem), and even managers including the regional manager. Nobody took responsibility. I was left standing in the shop for an hour and a half with no bike and no record of my payment. I asked for a refund since I’d lost all faith in Evans. Again, the shop staff tried to help, but head office had left them powerless. Now I’m left out of pocket with: * My money missing! * 2 hours of wasted driving * 1.5 hours wasted in-store * Almost an hour wasted on the phone to my bank * £16 wasted on parking The shop staff were supportive, but Evans’ head office and customer service are shockingly bad. Do not buy from Evans, their systems fail, and their customer service is non-existent.

Exceptional service from Bruno the mechanic! He couldn’t have been more helpful. He took the time to understand my goals, helped me choose my first road bike, and made sure I had all the necessary kit. Bruno patiently explained how to use everything, even giving me a “shifting 101,” and pointed out some great local routes. Originally, I planned to buy my bike from Balfe’s on a recommendation — but I ended up choosing Evans purely because of Bruno. He was so honestly helpful that I felt completely in safe hands. Bruno is an unbelievable asset to your company — a stellar example for all. Give that man a damn raise!

Unbelievable experience!! Customer service is outstanding!! I stumbled across a bike I liked online and went to the nearest store to see it in person. I saw a really cheap cannondale and thought as a beginner it would be a decent upgrade to a known brand and well within budget. I then spotted (right next to it) a trek marlin 7 which was in a special offer. I was talking to the assistant and he said it was better but left me to ponder on my own, which I thought was nice. After answering many many questions I decided to buy the trek as it was much more bike for the money. At no point was there “upselling” and they let me go through my motions. I brought the bike and some extras, which they fitted for me and it was ready to collect within 24 hours! Josh, Stan, Connor and Carl at the Brighton branch are fantastic with customers, knowledgeable and never speak down to you or get annoyed with questions. All of them were helpful and explained everything in detail. If you are in the Brighton area and need a bike, do not look any further. I will be going there for all bike related purchases from here on out. Halfords….. who?! Lol

I went in to ask for a bracket as my saddle snapped off this morning (I must have had all the pies..) . They kindly gave me a brand new stem and saddle! Thank you very much Evans, very friendly service!!

Purchased a Pinnacle Lithium 3 from Tom at the Brighton store. He advised that the bike could be returned at any time in the first 12 weeks for a free post sale service worth around £50. He said you don't need to book it in, just drop by anytime and it will be done straight away. Around 6 weeks later, I take time off work to cycle 40 minutes to the store for the service, and get told by Tom that it will be more than 5 hours before it can be done as the mechanic is doing a 'gold service'. He said I could wait or bring it in another day. Despite the previous misinformation given to close the sale and put £550 in the till, he was totally indifferent and uninterested in trying to retain customer loyalty. He even started laughing as I left the store, which I had to do as I didn't have 5 hours to spare. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told there wasn't one. There is no formal complaint process and the customer service online chat have stated they don't do compensation and they will not update me on the outcome of their investigation. I know I am not the only customer treated this way, so I suggest getting the details of the active directors from the government website, Companies House, and writing to them directly, as they will not engage or listen otherwise.

Generally speaking, the service at this store was below standard; a bunch of mid-20s/30s guys standing around talking about their weekend and barely noticing customers when they enter. To the current employees: if you don't want to work there, then quit. Give your job to someone who actually cares. When asked for help, they seemed irritated, almost as if I was wasting their time. It's especially frustrating when you're about to spend £3000 + and want to feel sure of the bike you're buying. Needless to say, I will never return to this store, especially when brilliant places like Baker St Bikes and Bike Shed are just down the street.

What used to be a friendly, knowledgeable store has gone completely to the dogs. I booked my bike in for a straightforward repair. They failed to complete (or even start) the job on the day I had booked. A week later, I chased up to fund out what was happening and they told me it was ready to collect. The first time I rode the bike after collecting, it became clear they hadn't actually carried out the repair at all. I complained to both Evans and Sports Direct (who now own Evans, which explains a lot) and both refused to refund. I only got a refund in the end by issuing a chargeback thorough my bank. Avoid Evans at all costs is my very strong advice !
