This was the most relaxing and beautiful place to stay. We were in the disabled room as my husband is not well. Being his FT carer, I needed a break. This was 3 miles from our home, but what an amazing experience. So enjoyable, I booked another trip whilst we were still there. If health permits, we’ll be back. Thank you to everyone involved.

My daughter & I went to the Christmas High Tea at the Assembly House Sunday 7th December 2025. When we called & booked we were told we were sharing a table after we had paid the sum of £89.90. We were not happy when we heard this. Had we been informed, when we booked, we would not have done so on this basis. My daughter noticed the diners in the opposite room at a separate event were on separate tables. Each table at our event, seated eight. The people on our table were unfriendly which says to me, it’s not a good arrangement to put people on shared tables. The music towards the end became very loud which caused people to speak above it so it became very noisy. We felt it was turned up in volume to encourage people to leave. The food was very poor & dry, with very little taste. The roast potatoes were described as being crispy. They were not. The best things were a piece of beef & the coleslaw & the gravy. My daughter can’t remember even having that. The bap with turkey in it was a brioche roll so it was slightly sweet. That didn’t relate to Christmas at all. Since when does one have a brioche roll at a Christmas meal. Maybe at Mac Donald’s. It would have been better to have made dainty turkey sandwiches. I complained to a manageress named Kirsty as we left, about our experience & feelings about the food. I spoke about the deserts & how poor they were & I said it was a shame they were brought in. Much to my surprise, she said they were made on the premises, which wasn’t much of an accolade to the chefs, the same applied to the rest of the food. She urged me to write to a manager. Our table was the last to be served. We were offered extra gravy when all our food had just arrived. They never returned with the offer of more gravy. The quarter glass of mulled wine given when we arrived, wasn’t nice. It was bitter in taste. We had much better mulled wine at a Christmas lights house nearby. A couple came in late with full glasses. When I complained Kirsty said they paid for it which I found very strange. We purchased a bottle of wine which was awful & tasteless. We specifically assured Kirsty we would not complain online. I sent a feedback complete with my phone number but no one got back to me. I phoned 11th December at around 11:00am. I was told the manager had a meeting. I waited until around 3:45pm & called back. I spoke to a manager who said they had sent me a reply to my written complaint. There was no sign of it so they re-sent it. I verbally went through my complaint. I felt that he dealt with it badly, hence the written complaint here. After this bad experience we won’t be returning.

Lived in Norwich sometime back I’ve done business and put up clients here. Decided to have a date night for my 50th Health issue the hotel were very kind and granted date change as one off. That was very very kind. Sadly we wanted room 5 we got room 6. Personally it felt more a room for 70+ and my partner really not a fan of random dog china it felt a bit tired and cheap on finish Afternoon tea was fab. Scones just ok but nice Xmas theme and lovely location Big thank you to staff and hard working breakfast team. Some points to help others… 1. Room 6 fridge too hot not airflow. Sofa no table to drink tea or bubbles. Room furniture very cheap / falling apart 2. WiFi patchy but old building 3. We asked room 5 got room 6 felt like a grandparents room. Not looking for dust but when plugging in phone or moving glass dust in a lot of places 4. Nice breakfast great staff. But miffed busy time 5 tables in front of us one member taking orders - keying in orders. We put order in for half then pulled away. As first visit no idea side room to pick up juice or snacks as out of view Better comms welcome to first time guests

Myself and family (two adults, two under 12s) visited for Halloween afternoon tea this year after attending an Alice In Wonderful themed afternoon tea previously and loving it. We had equally as much fun this time. The theming of the food is so much fun. The food is so beautiful to look at but also delicious! Our favourites were the mini cheese toasties and the scary macaroons with eyes! Perfect for little ones even though it’s a formal setting, our kids absolutely loved it as it was their first afternoon tea! Service was brilliant, very professional and polite. Looking forward to seeing the upcoming themes and attending our next afternoon tea as a family!

This was my first time visiting the assembly house Norwich. I was VERY excited to go with a few of my friends to celebrate her engagement, however a few things i witnessed i found very disturbing. The afternoon tea was NOT up to standard, the only way i could describe it would be like someone farted on it before bringing it out to us. on a serious note for the price i would rather have spend the money in aldi, lidl or any other supermarket and make it myself. i appreciate the presentation however it tasted like sawdust there was 0 flavour in anything. there was i would say a large group with me 8-10 people we racked up QUITE a bill and left feeling hungry as the food was inedible. in hindsight we should have gone to mcdonald’s. I felt like i was in a void where they had removed our 5 senses. the only thing comparable in taste is if i had a chunk of road on my plate. the building and wait staff are both great however a serious menu change needs to happen before i return. although i did hear staff say behind the wall that they think the cakes taste like they are cr an all inclusive, not sure if it’s this is a positive or not. quick tip: dressing up the afternoon tea doesn’t make it taste good! kind regards Emma Smith

Visited for an afternoon tea after wedding ring shopping - The food is beautiful but a little more slickness is needed from the waitresses. We were shown to a table by a wonderfully friendly woman who took the time to read our booking notes as it was a special occasion. Our next staff contact was "are you ready to order?" There was no explanation of what we could order, how many choices we got, what refills were included, etc. We received our food about five minutes before the tea arrived and I asked for a refill of my tea when they brought the scones, which never ever came. The food and drink is wonderful, the whole setting is beautiful... just a tiny few refinements and it'd be the perfect place! :)

Myself and family/friends spent an evening in the igloo and it could not have been better. The service was top notch and food was fantastic. Such a wonderful way to celebrate with loved ones during the festive season! Our main waiter was Dash, along with Reuben and Darcy, and they were the most wonderful team. Could not recommend enough.

My husband and I spent a night at The Assembly House and enjoyed the festive themed afternoon tea. It was super busy and we did have to wait awhile before being served. The couple next to us arrived after we did and were served before us….overall the tea was nice, savouries were delicious but the sweets, were super sweet and didn’t really have any distinguishing flavours, just sugary. We stayed in room 6 which was really nice, lovely cute decor, gorgeous bath (enjoyed a soak) but the duvet was far to heavy and hot - so sleep wasn’t great…..luckily we had a fan in the room. Breakfast was delicious and included in the room price. Would we return - probably not…but as a one off visit it was nice. Staff were super friendly and helpful! Norwich town centre is really nice, lots of lovely independent shops and a stones throw away from the House.

The rooms are beautiful , high quality furniture , beautifully decorated and high on spec. The breakfast and afternoon tea are exceptional and of a very high quality.I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks for a great few days, we will return !!
