   Amazing place to stay! We stayed visiting friends in the village so loved being 5 mins walk away from them! Accommodation is beautiful, clean and has everything you need! Bonus waking up and seeing deer each morning! Owners attentive and friendly, provided us with a fantastic spread for breakfast and were very flexible for both our check in and out! Look forward to staying here again!

   My family and I were really looking forward to our holiday at The Chestnuts Lodge as the photos looked lovely. Upon arrival however we were greeted with a run down version of what is advertised and were incredibly disappointed. The Lodge is in desperate need of renovation to the point where the back door can only be secured with a bolt at the top as it will not shut or lock which is a death trap for anyone who can't reach it in a fire, There is a large hole in one of the bathroom floors which was covered by a mat to hide it. Many of the fixtures and fittings are broken such as bathroom fans, window handles, shower doors, blind cords and are in need of replacing. The lodge had a general feel of being uncared for to the point where the grass hadn't even been cut in the enclosured garden area but the hosts had cut the grass in their own garden. Outside the decking is rotting and the steps are unsafe, plants are either dieing or are overgrown and the buildings paint is peeling off. Also a few notes, firstly if you have small children, there is a deep pond near the front of the property that is not included in the listing and attracts mosquito's. Secondly there is reduced head height on the door frames. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy our stay so we cut our holiday short as we didn't feel safe in the property and went home early. Hosts were unapologetic and in denial about how how bad the place is. If The Lodge was half the price it would be suitable for back packers and dog walkers. Not suitable for a modern family in 2024.

   Fabulous facilities in a quiet, peaceful and convenient location just outside the small rural town of Long Stratton. The hostess is friendly and welcoming and thinks of everything to make your stay the best it can possibly be. Nothing too much trouble and dogs are made very welcome. There are a variety of rooms and accomodation available to suit individuals, couples , friends and multi- generational families. I stayed upstairs in the self contained and purpose built barn conversion in the twin ensuite room (which could be set up as king size bed instead ) with access to kitchen facilities shared with the other ensuite room which is a large double. The mature garden has been designed and planted with every shrub, tree, plant, bush and feature that I would want in my own garden if I had the space. I would have loved to stay longer and will return with my whole family.

   Great little find. Plenty of accommodation space, quiet, safe place for kids. Fields with deer and hares. Trampoline for kids. Loads of board games and garden games. Two TVs. Internet. Very good local Coop it's a brand new supermarket. Dog friendly and dog safe. Great pub restaurant at the Boars in Spooner Row. Under impressed with eateries in Long Stratton. Goodies Farm Supermarket is good and has a nice restaurant and play area for kids. Would go back again in a heartbeat. Paul and Sandra
