I have used Gary and the Thompson Bros Garage from May 2008 (when i passed my driving test) and they have never been anything but professional, courteous, informative and fair on price from day 1. I wouldn't trust my vehicle with any other garage more than this one. Fantastic local business, and if i could leave more than 5 stars i would, but unfortunately that is the maximum allowed

Good, honest, reliable mechanics. I haved used them for many years, over 3 cars and never had an issue. Realistic time frames and competitive prices. Wouldn't take my car anywhere else. They always seem to want to be able to assist and are trustworthy mechanics. Had to use another garage for 2023's MOT, due to lack of planning on my part and Thompson not having availability. Big mistake! Wouldn't take my car anywhere else now. They do get booked up fast, but feel that is a sign of a good garage.

Do not touch this garage. They have forced my bonnet catch during MOT, snapping the metal wire inside, taking no responsibility for it, despite it being a £700 fix that I now have to cover. He told me the cable was frayed. It is frayed at the end because it was snapped. A metal wire does not snap unless it is forced. Today, I called the garage and was invited in after being told they'll take a look, and I am greeted by an aggressive manager waving his hands and raising his voice at me because I have asked him to cover the cost of fixing it or fixing it for me as a courtesy. He is obviously more concerned about losing a few quid than doing the right thing and rectifying his error. My family have been loyally coming to this garage for years, and I am astounded at this man's disgusting behaviour towards me today. He is willing to have his reputation damaged for the sake of repairing damage caused by his staff, and he was extremely aggressive in his words and body language. Clearly a very angry man taking it out on his customers. Swearing at your customers is disgraceful behaviour to say the very least!!! On their negative reviews, what keeps cropping up is them saying "we have been in this business for 40 years"... and that'll be exactly why they think they're untouchable. What a huge mistake to make in business! Length of time does not automatically equate to being deserving of respect and credibility. I'd bet money that this garage is crumbling given some of the reviews about the damage they have caused to people's cars..... and, in hindsight, the fact the wait time is about 5 minutes. A good garage would be booked up. My best advice is to simply stay away because they WILL NOT take accountability if they mess up your car.

Told me car was ready, spent £20 on taxis there and back to find out it wasn't as they hadn't test driven it. When it was ready a few days later I asked for it to be taken off £400 bill and told "we don't do that here". Poor form and not impressed with dirt left inside and out of vehicle. Car seems to be fixed though so not total loss. To add to the reply below looks as though it will need to go to Mercedes anyways, issue not resolved

Took our car here to get an ABS pump fault sorted, they told us they would take a look and get it done. They first called me back telling me they can’t do a diagnose on the car because they don’t have the software for it and that we should take it somewhere else and after that’s done they would change the ABS pump. Took the car back after got a diagnose done on it and they kept it there for a month just to call back and tell me they can’t fix it because they don’t have the software required to program the ABS pump. I personally don’t know any other garage that keeps the car there for over a month and doesn’t do any work on it. Very disappointing experience, wouldn’t visit again.

The man who handled my MOT was amazing. Was professional and personable the whole way through. There is a little room for you to wait have a cup off coffee and watch TV which made the experience easy. The prices were what they should be, which is always normally a concern when getting a MOT. Based on the man who provided my MOT, I have decided this is the company I will be using for anything my car needs.
