Have been using Total Auto for last 5+ years for both our cars. Chris is always communicative and pragmatic about the best course of action, including seeking specialist services elsewhere if necessary. Delighted to have a garage who feels invested in your vehicle rather than just seeing it as a source of income. Highly recommended!
Update of my review 30 sept 25, I recently bought a car that I wanted inspected. I spoke to Chris about all my concerns and what I wanted to get looked at. They checked absolutely everything for me and gave me all their recommendations. I couldn’t ask for more honestly. Couldn’t thank them enough. ———Previous review——- I’ve been coming to Total Auto for the past year now since I moved to St Neots. Chris, which I believe is owner is what really made me come here. He was super honest and up front on my first inquiry, where’s others were soso. Just off of that first interaction I found my garage for life. Never had an issue getting an appointment, super easy usually just shoot an email over and I got a response by tomorrow or even that same day. Had my MOT, service and diagnostic done here. Cant fault the team at all! Probably one of the fairest garages honestly. There was even a time where Chris went above and beyond to get me a different quote on a part I needed since the first was out of my budget. Highly recommend, 10/10
We use Total Auto for our 2 cars (MOT and service) and would highly recommend. They are quick, thorough and professional and I trust their advice. I recently had an issue with my oil, coolant and tires and Chris fit me in the next day to investigate and was very pragmatic and helpful to get it sorted. As a female, I don’t always enjoy taking my car to the garage but Chris always explains everything clearly and is helpful. Don’t hesitate to take your car here, best in the area for customer service by far.

I purchased a classic car from Chris that needed a mild restoration and the whole process from buying it to getting it delivered which was sorted for me on purchase ,to literally having it dropped at my garage door was an easy process. He does sell other cars and does vehicle services, tunes and does remaps and also aircon re gas. If you’re in the area or passing and need any work on your vehicle doing, then look him up. 11/10

Enquired about a Crossfire from Chris. Very pleasant gentleman over the phone and following the reviews everywhere was confident in purchasing the car. Agreed to a fresh mot and delivery within the price. Delivery day came and the car arrived, looking good with 12 month MOT. Then I drove it and the warning lights came on. Chris was very quick to help and told me not to worry, take it in to a local garage and get it looked at following 3 or 4 niggles I noticed almost immediately. These included a loud bang i heard a-few days after purchasing, the passenger door handle being temperamental, the windows not closing properly upon shutting the door (when you finally get it open) and a warning light for the ESP/BAS. I had it in the garage and told them to liaise with Chris to sort the problems out (3 would’ve failed the MOT at my garage, including back brakes being beyond knackered and wobbling and the track rod end boots split) he would be paying personally or sorting through the warranty. I didn’t want to be involved due to the fact I was owed for the diagnostics (and still am despite it being Chris’ obligation as he sold a car with problems). Near a month of back and forth and arguing I decided to initiate sending the car back within my 30 day period as I am entitled to as the repairs weren’t getting anywhere, and Chris had refused to pay for any alterations to the door as he considered the ‘matter closed?’ Chris also denied the statutory right to send it back, and also refused to collect it (which legally speaking, he needed to). The garage finished the works and I’ve heard no more from Chris. I still have some problems with the door, and the track rod end boots. I’m having to chase up these myself and try to find a garage who will do these under the warranty as Chris either wasn’t interested in talking about problems that occurred due to age related matters or because he didn’t want to pay (diagnostics). An expensive lesson that garages aren’t always the sure safe way to buy a car. TL;DR Nice bloke, sure he had good intentions and runs a mostly honest business. Bad experience with mixed feelings on resolution. Some issues still not sorted and will have to chase myself to even more expense. 2/5.
This review is not prompted, I'm a bit of a car guy and I personally had a good experience with this garage after having some sour moments elsewhere so thought i'd leave a review. Booked in for two tricky runflat tyre changes and air con regas. Found the whole thing pleasant, friendly and welcoming- they did a great job and quick turnaround. If you are looking in St Neots for a honest garage don't hesitate to use this company.
I have been using Chris and his team for a number of years now and have recommended his garage widely to friends and family for the competitive value and excellent service I have always received. Having since left St. Neots, I will always make the trip to return to Total Auto when I need work doing on the car as having a trustworthy and reliable garage is absolutely invaluable.
