My wife and I spent saturday afternoon in the North Star to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The christmas atmosphere in the pub was really lovely. We had a lovey hunters chicken meal with cheesy bread starters & drinks. Our special thanks to LAURA who, from the beginning was arranging the service of our meals and drinks. Many Thanks to LAURA.

Having been before to the Northstar on several occasions once having had a good meal and another time a mediocre meal of extremely greasy fish and chips. We thought we would try again today. The gammon steak and chips were fine although the gammon steak was thin. However, the cauliflower curry which was described as being sweet and mild on the menu turned out to be hot and spicy. My daughter who was with me and eats hotter curry’s than I do tried a couple of chilies and said it was quite hot! After tasting it, I had to give it back as it burnt my mouth. The staff were quite happy to change it for something else. I chose soup and they brought a very small shallow bowl of salty leek and potato soup With a piece of sliced bread. Needless to say, I was unimpressed, however, I decided not to complain as they had been reasonable about changing the curry. We each had Eton mess after which was fine. With one coffee and one glass of beer, I think the £45 bill was a lot considering what we had and my dissatisfaction. The staff were lovely.

Excellent staff. All of them friendly, smiling and nothing too much trouble. This made the evening nicer! Food good. We attended on a charity quiz night and took part.

A friend and I went there today and had the 3 course set menu. The food was delicious, well presented, hot and very decent portions. The service was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and came to us several times to ask if everything was ok. Price wise, very affordable. We shall be back.

A crowd of us visited for Sunday lunch and had a great time. Most of us had the Sunday lunch which was enjoyed by us all - tasty and plentiful. The other food ordered was just as good. The girl who served (forget her name unfortunately) us was lovely - friendly and helpful. Only downside was lack of real ales choices. 4 pumps and only 2 in use - and one serving the ubiquitous bland Doom Bar. That said we all had a great time and would definitely return

Such amazing pub! Food so delicious and fresh! I took day soup for a lunch. The soup was simply but very tasty witg fresh bread and butter. And I took steak withshrimps. Chips, mushroom, shrimps so delicious!!! Medium rare steak was very good! Just I recommend cook it same minutes less for more juisy. But I haven't eaten so tasty in a long time and the prices are very reasonable!

Popped in for the first time on a Monday lunchtime, registered with the Ember Inns app - which granted me and my partner, who has also just registered, a free drink upon arrival. Sat down to peruse the menu, and noticed that there was also an offer for 50% off Mains running for the next few days, so this sweetened the deal even more. Order: 2 x Cow and Chick Burgers -No tomato 2 x Beef Dripping Gravy The app is really well written, offering customisation options for most items, where applicable. The food order was fulfilled quickly and efficiently and was delivered to our table with a friendly smile. The burgers were well-seasoned, nicely cooked and were fairly decent quality ingredients. For the price, even without the deal, there are certainly no complaints here. The gravy was also very nice, could’ve been a bit thicker - but that is personal taste. The pub itself is well laid out with a spacious and inviting layout, and a nice calm atmosphere. Order was fulfilled promptly

Great atmosphere, good and friendly service. I had Sunday roast, reasonable price for food quality. They took a while to serve the food, otherwise a great experience.

Absolutely disgusting, missing x2 portions of chips, missing salad of the burger. Order the "turkey carvery" you'd be better off buying a ready made one from Iceland. Was missing the roasties, veg were hard, one small slice of turkey, Yorkshire burnt and cold. The entire order was cold and inedible, went straight in the bin! (would recommend getting a new chef)

Not been before but met up with my dad, his partner and my sister's for midweek get together. They had a promotion on for 50% off mains so was very busy, but alas you expect that. They also do a fixed price menu, which possibly for us would have worked out cheaper so best check when ordering. Was told straight away there was about 40 min wait for food, but liked the honesty and as it so happened was not as long as that anyway. Had prawn cocktail which was lovely, followed by steak. Not usually a fan of steak out as never cooked how I like it and hit and miss. However, this was beautiful, cooked to perfection and very tasty. 4 of us had steak, all asked for it differently and all came out perfectly. Have been to more expensive, sometimes actually places that specialises in steaks , and not as nice. Service very good. Only downside is they need more car parking spaces as car park rammed, but i can't see how they could do that really.
