   We called here over the weekend 7/12/25 not sure if it was open but it was and we were really impressed. Very cozy with several log fires. Super friendly new owners with food available at weekends. The website and Facebook page need updating.

   Went past this place today and saw it was back open so decided nip in for a pint & some food. Absolutely thrilled we did! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by friendly staff, a warm atmosphere and felt right at home. We had our new born with us so always a worry when she starts to play up but the staff/other customers made us feel right at ease. The food was incredible, we had the steak & Stilton pie which was spot on. Thank you for such a lovely afternoon and will 100% be back again!!

   Terrific pub with a great atmosphere. Had lunch in a lovely sunny garden. The menu had some wonderful touches, and the food was beautifully presented. Christine looked after us in every way. Remember to check out the specials board, and take advantage of the specials deals - eg. Fish and chips Fridays.

   Lovely cosy country pub with a friendly helpful manager and staff. We had an amazing couple of meals the other evening, and we're made to feel very welcome in our campervan which we slept in outside the pub (bit of a slope but a nice quiet night) We had a great walk to Lud's Church the next morning, and by the time we got back we decided to stay for some more lovely food before heading home. We will definitely be back with our friends next time. Well done Cat for doing a great job managing the pub.

   I would have liked to give it 5 stars because it is a fabulous pub with great beer and great staff but the food let it down slightly. I love mushy peas but their peas seemed like they were marrowfat peas out of a tin and then mashed by the chef. For the cost of real peas they shouldn't skimp.

   Great local pub with the most amazing food. My husband and I visited twice during our three-day stay in the area and both times the staff were lovely and inviting (even when we came in drenched and muddy from walking). As others have said, you must eat there; the food is so much more than standard pub fare.
