Good but don't like people speaking down at you.We have all stayed in hotels and generally know how it works.

Great family run hotel. Rooms are fantastic and very clean. Helpful staff and great location opposite Wellingborough War Memorial. No breakfast available on my visit but there's a breakfast bar over the road if needed. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend staying here. ☆☆☆☆☆

Ah, where do I begin with the Oak House Hotel in Wellingborough? You see, it's not every day that you come across a place that strikes the perfect balance between affordability and genuine warmth, but Oak House... Oak House does it with a grace that's hard to find in today's world. From the moment I stepped through those doors, I was greeted by a lady named Gayle. Now, let me tell you about Gayle. She's not just your run-of-the-mill hotel employee. No, she's the heart and soul of the place. The kind of person whose very presence just makes you feel at home. Her smile? Infectious. Her demeanor? As warm as a freshly brewed cup of tea. She's the gemstone of hospitality, and her kindness... it's as refreshing as a cool breeze on a hot summer's day. Now, the hotel itself, they say it's a 2-star establishment. But let me assure you, the moment you walk in, that star rating feels like a gross underestimation. The ambiance, the decor, it all gives off the air of a place that should boast at least an extra star by its name. It's a classic example of not judging a book by its cover. The dining area and bar are what I'd call an oasis of tranquility. Spacious, yet intimate enough to make one feel cozy and undisturbed. A perfect spot to unwind after a day of hustle and bustle. And would you believe it, I had my folding bike with me, quite the conundrum at most places, but not for Gayle. She whisked it away and secured it without so much as a second thought. It's little touches like this, the understanding of a traveler's needs, that truly set Oak House apart. The rooms, oh, the rooms! Each one came with a tea and coffee set, a small gesture that speaks volumes. The comfort of being able to brew your own beverage whenever the need strikes is something I cherish deeply. And for those who indulge in tobacco's embrace, fear not. The hotel has a smoking area at the back, complete with a canopy to shield you from the elements. They understand that some needs don't adhere to the clock's whims. But the pièce de résistance, the crowning jewel of the Oak House experience, is Gayle's tour. She takes each guest around upon arrival, ensuring that no one feels lost. It's a personal touch, a sign of care and consideration that you just don't get everywhere. In conclusion, my stay at the Oak House Hotel was nothing short of delightful. It's more than just a place to lay your head; it's a warm embrace in the form of lodging. If you're ever in Wellingborough and need a place to stay, look no further. Oak House, with Gayle's incomparable hospitality, will make sure your visit is memorable. It's a shining example of how a hotel should be run, and I, for one, cannot recommend it highly enough.

I’ve just had a 5 night stay here & was very happy with my choice. Met my main criteria (clean, comfortable & good WiFi) perfectly with the added bonus of the owner being friendly & helpful to make everything the best possible. If I need to stay in Wellingborough again this place will be top of my list!

When I visited The Oak House it looked very nice clean and welcoming from the outside. Checked in and was shown to my room hotel manageress was very helpful and friendly. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy throughout. My room was a twin room but again was very clean tidy and spacious. There was a tv in the room along with a kettle and complimentary tea/coffee. There was an ample amount of bath towels and complimentary shower gel in the bathroom. The beds were made everyday and the room cleaned and complimentary items replaced. Unfortunately due to the covid epidemic there wasn’t any breakfast being served but was replaced with packed breakfast which contained a pot of porridge oats, fruit, cereal bar and a carton of fresh orange juice and I found that was ample. The manageress also allowed me to store refrigerated items in the kitchen fridge and allowed me to use the kitchen to prepare any food as long as I left it how I found it (which was in A1). As it is a non smoking building there was a patio area at the rear of the hotel along with the car park which had a couple of tables and chairs and again was very clean and tidy. They also have a large dog but he is lovely he doesn’t bite and is friendly. Overall it’s a lovely place to go I do recommend and if I am in the area again I would certainly book there again.
