Arrived with my partner to come for a coffee. As we walked in, we saw someone sat on a table outside vaping. Once inside, there was no one inside, we rang the bell for service (on the counter) and no one came. We left and went to Milk and Honey instead where we were served and greeted as we walked through the door. When we left, we saw the person who was vaping, inside and behind the counter - presumably works there. We feel that the person working there should have acknowledged us walking in and let us know they were not serving due to being on their break. We will not be visiting again after this experience

We were passing and decided to pop in for lunch during half term. Exceeded expectations- fantastic pizza made to order for £10 including a soft drink (great that you can see it being made). Kids margherita pizza was only £2.50 and a decent size - they really enjoyed it. I understand the Kitchen has recently changed hands and will be undergoing a refurbishment and extending the menu. Loving it so far - we will definitely be back.

Excellent quality locally sourced food, cooked to perfection in a suitably ambient atmosphere. Live music too! Highly recommended.

Had a great meal with 8 of us where they were kind enough to move tables around to accommodate our large group even though we didn't have a reservation! We had absolutely lovely service and a great meal overall, with a great atmosphere!

A really excellent licenced bistro on Sadler Gate. We had their house pizza and the cevapi kebab. Both were excellent. The tomato sauce for the pizza was one of the best I've ever had. The cevapi kebab is a balkan speciality, very juicy beef with an excellent flat bread, salad and chips. Also served with an amazing red pepper sauce. Live music seems to be a thing here, they had a guitarist and singer in. Super friendly staff, reasonable prices and a lovely location. They also have an evening menu that looks interesting. I will return.

Had a great experience this Sunday morning at the kitchen saddler gate Derby. Full 5 stars all round. Service was great, food and drink was great and the atmosphere too, they have live music and encourage musicians to perform there. Thank you very much.

Never disappointed at The Kitchen! Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere and the live music adds something different to a usual cafe visit! Had my first pizza this time I visited and it was beautiful!

We went here with a Groupon deal for four people which cost £26 plus for a pizza and drink each. We were met by the staff and seated. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. We also spoke to the owner who told us about the history I little of the Kitchen and that he has been there for four years and looking to expand up to the first floor. The pizzas are made in a traditional pizza oven and tasted great. The beers are all bottled so no draught. The only criticism I would have is the sauces they use were cheap brands. Which I don't mind but they were dirty and could do with a clean or being replaced. But a great venue and would go again and felt relaxed here. So thank you to all the staff for a great evening. I dropped in to have a coffee, but on entering, smelling the food and having a sense of calm about the place, I decided to get a menu and have some breakfast. The menu is small but concise and doesn't attempt to be an "everything to everyone" type of eatery. I had the veggie breakfast and it was delicious. Hash browns were fluffy yet crisp on the outside and the whole meal went down nicely. Table service was good although I wasn't too sure whether you pay at the table or at the counter. Food is cooked from fresh and you can tell when it comes out. My only slight negative was I didn't like the butter/spread used on the toast but this is a very minor point. Would definitely visit again and would recommend to all to have a visit. Breakfast and coffee for under a tenner.
