   Booked a table for 12 for my nephew’s birthday, having been semi-regular customers for a few years. The welcome and service was excellent from the get-go; nothing seemed too much trouble. Food was excellent, good quality as always. The two young ladies behind the bar/waiting were excellent, very helpful and extremely professional throughout our visit. Keep up the great work, team! :)

   Although it wasn't our first choice to go for lunch too celebrate my little sister's 51st birthday it was a very good choice by my brother in law. On arrival the carpark was almost full, usually a good sign. On entering we were greeted by a smiling young lady behind the bar. The booking was for 13.30 for 14.00 lunch but the first thing we were told was that the kitchen closed 6 at 14.00. If we had not pre-booked that would have been okay but as we had booked days in advance would expected to have been told that then. Despite this negative start we decided to pursue and sat down. There were eight of us in total, ages rangeing from 12 to 82. Considering what we were told on arrival the service was a little slow to come take orders. There was a lite lunch menu on the table with a blackboard of of specials on the wall but this was only in one part of the dining area so had to take photo on the mobile and read the list to everyone. They have a good selection of drinks as you would expect. Good ordered we sat back to enjoy the ambience and chat. I was quite loud as many of the tables were full but they soon thinned out and it was not as noisy. The food arrived and looked really good. It was all hot and freshly prepared. I had the pork belly which was delicious; the two slices were moist with the fat being faultlessly rendered; the dauphinoise potatoes were seasoned to perfection and not overpowering. The black pudding, which I know is decisive but I love it and have it often, was cooked well but tasted of fish so suspect they used the same pan as they used to sear mum's sea bass. The jus that came with the belly pork was a little too sweet but those were my only two complaints. The pasta dishes were huge and we requested two doggy bags which the team were happy to accommodate. For dessert I had the lemon syllabub which was faultless as was the mixed berry crumble that my sister had. The others that had dessert went for ice-cream and as that was made by New Forest Ice Cream there were scraped bowls. I enjoy it when the staff are interactive and the gentleman who came to clear up and asked if we wanted any more drinks was witty and attentive. Price wise it was reasonable for what you would expect in this day and age. £280.00 for eight of us was good value. Overall the food was really good and the ambience conducive for a pleasant afternoon. We all agreed we would go again and I'm sure we will soon.

   Food is amazing. But attention they have two boards not just one. And one board have much more interesting food then another. Somehow they forgot to mention so we lost the opportunity to experience the best food.

   My favourite pub for many years now. The quality of food never disappoints and people who work there are always nice. The big garden with a play area is a bonus if you have kids.

   Stunning pub with an enormous beer garden. There are some lovely country walks that bring you hear. The beer is great and there is a good selection. The staff there were friendly and welcoming. The food menu looked of good quality but I didn't notice any options for vegans.

   My wife and I went here last evening (July 2022) for dinner, our first visit. The waitresses were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. There are no menus at the table; instead you go to view the specials board and the main menu board. My wife had a G&T and I had a pint of Robin Hood ale. I started with smoked trout, beetroot, and potato salad, from the specials board - my mouth is watering now just thinking about it! I had the sirloin steak, which came with chips, a large flat mushroom and a tomato, with sauce on the side. My wife had a pasta dish with a cream sauce, which she said could have been hotter but wasn't so cold it needed to be sent back. I had lemon curd and blueberry mille feuille for dessert and my wife had ice cream. There seemed to be a slight delay in being able to order our dessert but that seems to happen everywhere. The prices were perhaps a tad high such as starters starting (no pun intended) at £7.50 but the food was very tasty. We were surprised how busy the pub was for a Monday evening and glad we had booked a table. Additionally, we used a voucher won at a raffle from a Hedge End Carnival quiz night so the pub is very community-spirited.

   Had two meals here now and both have been excellent. So much more than "pub grub". Whenever a restaurant doesn't offer you every dish known to man, you know that's a good sign! The best quality ingredients, cooked and presented beautifully. The staff are always friendly and polite and don't constantly ask "Is everything ok?"
