Went for a Christmas date night with the Hubby and treated ourselves to the 3 course Xmas meal. It was fantastic, accompanied with the roaring fire and friendly staff… we had an excellent time. Will be retuning in the new year.
Went for lunch with 2 friends. Staff and service was friendly and very efficient. We had the Christmas menu and we could not fault it. Food was tasty, beautifully cooked and wonderfully presented. Vegetables were fresh and cooked to perfection. Not sure if the gentleman was the manager or owner but he was so welcoming. Would highly recommend
A very big thank you to all the staff at the Black Dog for giving Wickham Spinners, Weavers and Dyers a fantastic Christmas meal yesterday. The food was excellent, hot and very tasty and the ambiance second to none. Nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff which added to the enjoyment of the party.
Popped in on Halloween night as we were running behind on dinner due to trick or treating with the kids and they left us no dinner. Saw their Facebook post on special Halloween offers so gave it a go. Lovely friendly staff, even the chef popped out in to restaurant area. Sausage and mash was lovely, nice touches and locally sourced sausages. Couldn't stay long and only moved to Swanmore 3 weeks ago so at least we know this place is a food one to go to in future. See you again soon!
We came for Sunday lunch at The Black Dog and it was spot on. Between the six of us, some had the slow-cooked beef — tender and full of flavour — and others had the turkey, which was perfectly cooked and really succulent. The puddings were just as good: pavlova, sticky toffee pudding, and apple pie, all amazing. You can tell from the empty plates how much we enjoyed it. One of us said, “If I’d known it would be that good, I’d have come last night too.” Says it all really.
As always, a lovely pub to visit. Staff are always friendly and welcoming, food is great quality, freshly prepared and cooked, wholesome and tasty. Worth booking in advance as can be busy. Please, if you do book, let the pub know if you subsequently are unable to go and have to cancel. Highly recommended.
Great food, lovely service and fab prices. Will definitely be back and cant wait to visit in the summer so my little ones can enjoy the outdoor play area. Really enjoyed our visit- thank you!

First night fancied something simple a basket meal £6.50 good quality nice beer and our black dog felt very at home. Went back a second night ate off the main menu again lovely meal
