Drove 60 miles to meet a freind for breakfast. It was busy so happily waited for a suitable table but it took 15 mins to get cleared. Asked the waitress if it was table or bar service. She said she'd come back and take our order. 10 mins later we went to the bar to order. Breakfast arrived and the poached eggs were hardboiled, the bacon was undercooked but the sausage was fantastic. Unfortunately, the plates were cold so the food became cold quickly. Tried to complain but no-one was round so had to go to the bar. I was told we would get more eggs but as the rest of the food was cooling we said no and please adjust the bill. Ordered more drinks, only one came so had to go back to ask again. Went to pay the bill and was told £3 had been taken off the bill which I queried so another £3 was taken off. So disappointed with the whole experience.

You can’t go wrong here. Beer is good. Food is good. It’s a regular staple of people in this area and highly recommended. You can have a great family meal here or a romantic dinner. It’s a classy place and a focal point of the area. Even cool people go there as well, young, old and it’s a really nice place to eat/drink at. It is more expensive than other places but really quality place to be. Oh and they do breakfast as well.

The staff are welcoming, attentive, polite and friendly. We went on midweek evening. it was a quiet time of the place, with good numbers of people coming for a meal. We liked our foods. I wish they had more variety of soft drinks with less sugar in it to choose from. The sourdough bread taste was different from the ones I usually get from M&S or Lidl. In general, we enjoyed our foods and their warm service. Thank you. I would highly recommend it to others to visit and try the foods.

A fantastic little pub with low ceiling but packed with history and atmosphere. Good selection of beers and food on the menu, and a large outdoor dining area. I would recommend if you are dining indoor on a Friday night to make a reservation. The baked cheese was a great starter, and the fish n chips perfect.

I tend to go to a different local pub for Sunday roasts every week, so I am able to compare their various offerings and their service. I have just had the best vegetarian roast of any of the ones I've tried elsewhere. Their offering is a Wellington vegetarian roast which is to die for. I have also had their Roast beef in the past which is also absolutely top notch. All at very reasonable and comparable prices. On top of that, Laura is the best host, always welcoming me as a valued customer even if I only come every few weeks, and always with a big friendly smile that genuinely makes all the difference. I will definitely start frequenting even more often.

Had such a lovely experience here this afternoon with my best friend and young son this afternoon for my birthday. It was a beautiful sunny day, the service was excellent and the meal was very tasty and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this pub and will be returning. Thank you!

Nice gastropub with good choice of food. Staff were really friendly and very engaging with our child. The interior was well laid out with a good amount of space between tables. The food was better than it often is in these type of pubs. What was particularly impressive is that they offer to make any child dish as a smaller version of the adult version. This means there is so much more choice than the often very limited children's menu. There is a reasonable amount of parking but it was full shortly after we arrived. Not sure if there is other parking nearby. Highly recommend.
