“I recently enjoyed a delightful luncheon with friends at this establishment. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, and the staff was exceptionally courteous. The food was, without a doubt, delicious. I certainly plan to return.”

“This was not just a restaurant, this was a gastronomic experience unlike anything else we have ever had. Booked as a 30th Birthday dinner we were delighted by how special we were made to feel at the Chef's Table. Lornette and Ben run the restaurant and were like old friends within minutes, the atmosphere and surroundings were superb and the food was to die for. They offered a chef's table tasting menu that consisted of 10 courses, each was meticulously prepared and presented with flair, in front of our eyes. It was a meal worthy of all our senses: sight, taste, touch, sound and the amazing smell. It was pure theatre on a plate (or rather lots of plates). Each course was explained, matched with wine and savoured completely. Nothing was overwhelming or too big and surprisingly every ingredient was made to taste wonderful. It was a very special 30th birthday that prompted us to try something different and we are so glad we did. We will remember this meal, and the wonderful Lornette and Ben forever. We have told everyone we know about it and hope to find room on their books to book again. It was simply majestic.”

“First of all this place is absolutely gorgeous and the food was so so good. We stumbled across this restaurant while stuck in traffic. And we arrived with our toddler, bags and in our work clothes (after installing a messy Christmas display covered in pine needles) the restaurant has a formal feel and next time we pop by we will definitely dress up for the occasion. “Valle D’Oro is a wonderful family run independent Italian Restaurant in Newbury town centre, it’s food and drink selection is very good, so many options for steaks, the service was fast and friendly and you could tell the staff really care about their customers and the venue itself is cosy and well decorated. I had the steak in peppercorn sauce, I think if I ordered again I’d go for rare instead of medium rare. The fillet steak itself was incredible, it’s in my top five all time steaks, and it one of my go to items on menus so I’ve had lots in the past. The peppercorn sauce was also excellent, very thick and incredibly peppery, creamy goodness. The portion sizes are massive, so be careful not to over order, the vegetable selection looked amazing but we had no room left to try it. This is a great local business, it’s been located in Newbury since the 1080’s and you can see why it’s been so successful and long lived, it’s just brilliant, most highly recommend”

“Really good food. Calamari was nice and crispy rather than rubbery or slimy and came with plenty of sauce. Burger and chips were faultless - caramelised onions always take it to another level for me. The meringue dessert was also just right. Would have liked a few more non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks options but not a deal-breaker by far. Came to £37 which included 2 drinks, starter, main and dessert.”

“We enjoyed eating at the Reading Room last night. The whole experience was amazing. It wasn’t our first time there, so I’m happy the standard is consistently high. The food was delicious and looked beautiful. The staff were very professional and although they were always nearby, it didn’t feel awkward. The dinner finished with a really sweet, personal touch - couple of chocolates on a plate with a sign „happy anniversary”. I highly recommend the restaurant.”

“Gilbey's is a lovely hotel situated above a small restaurant in the heart of Eton just a 20 minute walk from Windsor Castle. We stayed in a beautifully decorated room with an equally lovely ensuite shower room and the most comfortable bed I've slept in. The staff at Gilbey's were very polite, friendly and helpful throughout. We opted for a full English breakfast which is an additional cost and served in the restaurant and it was worth every penny. The food was of an excellent quality and tasted amazing. We would most definitely stay here again.”
