Fish wasn't fresh and the chips were poor,mushy peas were ok though,no card payments ,cash only why and is it legal
Excellent fish and chips. The cod portion was a good size, and the chips were freshly fried. They cook the fish in small batches to ensure it’s served hot. Just remember to carry cash, as they do not accept card payments.
By far one of the worst chips shops i ever visited the fish has been frozen for years the chips come in tiny little pieces honestly the quality of the food is very bad i got no complaints about the service also a “pancake roll is two little spring rolls from chinese shop” it is not authentic at all
This place serves just about the best fish and chips I have eaten anywhere, I can’t rate / recommend highly enough. The food is absolutely spot on and friendly, cheerful service too. Good value at £9.10 for small cod, chips and mushy peas which were generous portion sizes. The fish is cooked freshly to order and has a nice crunchy batter and perfectly cooked white fish inside. The chips from here are absolutely fantastic - cooked to perfection with a nice golden brown colour, crispy on the outside and soft potato inside. Whatever their cooking process is, double frying, and choice of potato they have it just right and consistently so. I can only assume that the people giving bad reviews are those who like their chips to be the soggy wet undercooked mess all stuck together and stuck to the paper that some other places seem to think it’s acceptable to serve - ignore them, this is fish and chips at its very best!

For me, Martin and his team sell the best fish and chips in Reading. Have I been to all the fish places in Reading? No, no I haven't. But of the ones I have been to and other places across the country, I think top table lives up to its name. Always friendly and reasonably priced. Only drawback is that they only take cash.
We have only been once, but others have recommended this place. My wife and I ordered Cod and chips. The portions were generous, however the fish was over cooked in parts and the chips were overly greasy. There was a queue and it was a very hot day. So it was possible that the deep fat fryer was not at the right temperature, hence fatty chips. The fish was not uniform in shape and the thinner parts were over cooked. I have regularly passed this chippy and have heard good things. Shame that it did not live up to expectations.
Awful chips...huge portion but awful. So tight with the vinegar also...had to ask twice for more vinegar
Refried chips third time I've had this.. won't be another time that's for sure. Rotten awful taste, throat scrapers waste of money.
