Fantastic family meal at The Markeaton! We visited The Markeaton for dinner with my two kids, and everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Double Maple Stack Burger, Chicken Caesar Salad, Sharing Nachos, Seasoned Chips, and a few drinks — all freshly prepared, tasty, and perfectly cooked. The portions were generous, and the service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly, making it a really enjoyable evening out. Highly recommend this pub if you’re looking for great food, good value, and a welcoming place for families. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Two courses for £10.79 is very good value. Sadly, that is the only compliment. The Markeaton has table numbers, but none of the staff seem to know where the tables are! The first two orders were sent to the wrong table and then on the third order the staff didn’t bother to prepare the drink so I had to ask at the bar what happened to my order, the bar staff said they lost the receipt, but they didn’t seem to care anyway. Unfortunately the Nachos are prepared with Cheese Sauce rather than real cheese and the Sea-Bass and chips looked more like a child’s portion!

Not been to this pub since lockdown, forgotten how good the food was. Good quality food but at a reasonable price. I had the roast turkey Sunday dinner and it was amazing, love the red cabbage. Had sticky toffee pudding for afters. Large modern clean pub with outdoor area. Electric car charging point in car park. Welcoming staff would highly recommend it

The entrance door needs varnishing. It's first impressions that matter. Very lovely staff. Very welcoming.

I booked a table for 1700 which we arrived for on time, to be told that there wouldn't be a chef till 1800. When the food did arrive at the best I would call it OK just. Will I return probably because its round the corner from my daughter's house

First visit - won't return. Understaffed massively. 25 minute wait for a drink ordered on app. Food order incorrect. Food and drink feels severely overpriced for quality you can find in other pubs. Building nice and potential to be better but for us, our first visit and definitely our last.

Would give zero stars if I could not even worth one. The worst Sunday lunch I have had, both in terms of quality and quantity. Went today for a birthday lunch but I was left speechless at what i was served as a turkey sunday dinner for the price of £10.49. As it was for a birthday i did not complain or take photos. The staff were lacklustre clearly did not want to be there, No one said hello when we arrived and no one asked how the meal was and no one said goodbye, the chap serving our table sighed all the time, did not engage with us and virtually threw the food at us. he also cleared the table whilst my father was still eating without even asking. As for the food, i doubt there are enough characters for everything that was wrong. My son had a chicken burger despites asking for this to be plain with no salad or mayonnaise and explaining that it was just to be the bun with chicken in and the girl tapping this all in on the screen, it came with everything on! We had to ask for a new bun base. On the roast dinner we got two tiny roast pototoes that had been kept warm and tasted a week old, they were that dry even the steak knife couldnt cut them. The slice of turkey was barely enough for a toddler, I seriously have never seen a portion so small it is hard to comprehend. the parsnips were that tiny you nearly missed them, they had no flesh and were just blackened shriveled bits of chewy stick, frozen carrots barely cooked, the plate was a normal size and despite a large yorshire and a gravy boat on the plate there was still plenty of empty space. Gobsmacked and appalled, awful experience and a complete waste of hard earned money. needless to say we did not stay for pudding and wont be returning .
