Together as family and all our friends have been going to the Hollybrook for 25yrs , and never had any issues . We take pride on being so fortunate to have such a lovely establishment in our village. Thatβs until Izzy joined the team β¦, Last Sunday on a regular Sunday afternoon @ Hollybrook Izzy decided that my family had too much to drink and decided to stop serving my them due to a power trip as apparently she was the most senior bar staff there. I was not drinking and can honestly say there was no valid reason for this exemption without any explanation either. One of the bar staff came to apologize about her decision and was also surprised at her action. I feel her decision was unjustified, only last week we had a tab running Β£400 and I see no complaints were made then???? When a decision like this is made it can be very offensive for an individual especially a regular and loyal customer without any explanation . Itβs quite apparent Izzy has no class of training to be able to make sound judgment when and when not to make such decisions. Strongly suggest Izzy undergoes bar training and learns to understand foremost that she is working in a pub where customers will be drinking alcoholβ¦. And the art of understanding when to stop serving customers any more drinks. Clearly lacks common sense and no customer skills at all. I will most certainly be vigilant to see if other customers are treated the same way going forward to understand why we were discriminated against. I canβt see place surviving with staff that have such poor customer and judgmental skills β¦she is going to let the rest of what are such an awesome team down all because of a little power trip β¦

Great pub in the embers inns chain. Used to be my local a few years ago, dropped in today and still good. Real ale great and food lovely, good size beer garden to the side, with wooden shelters to sit inside if it rains, nice outside sitting area at front

Atmosphere OK, beer limited choice, burgers OK, Hunters Chicken well, peas boiled too within 1/2 inch of their lives, onion rings overcooked and the chicken was almost non existent, comment passed to server but nothing. Seriously need to improve

This was our third or fourth visit to The Hollybrook and I have to say we were most disappointed. My husband's steak had not been rested properly and so was oozing on his plate. The risotto portion I had was much, much smaller than previously, it had a pile of green salad on the top which masked how little was in the bowl underneath. My husband is not keen on risotto so it is my treat when I visit The Hollybrook. Given the amount of money I paid for the dish it was not value for money at all. We will have to consider very carefully whether we return as we were both really disappointed with this visit.

First time coming here for a while. The menu has really improved and there are a lot more options now including a seperate Vegetarian and Vegan menu. Staff taking our food was a bit rude, she asked if I had allergies I said that I can't have Cucumber and she responded with "I'm not sure what to do with that..." So I said as long as it isn't in mine and my partner's meal I'm ok it just makes me sick and she just laughed it off and our receipt said Allergies: No. Asked for some alterations on our meal, most were done apart from that they put peas on my partner's meal when we said we didn't want this on and it was repeated back to us when ordering. This was sorted out but we had to wait for our side so had to ask for that even though we asked for it to come out with our mains. We had to tell them what we had ordered as they weren't sure which side we missed even though we only ordered one. Halloumi, Mushroom and Pepper very nice but so so messy, I asked for it without mayo and even then it was all coming out as I was eating it, glad I had lots of tissues with me as my hands were so sticky afterwards. It was nice though. My partner ordered the Gammon and Chips with 2 eggs, the Gammon was really nice but the eggs had been precooked and then left under a heater as the egg was hard which means it wasn't cooked fresh which was a shame. Toilets were ok, water was absolutely freezing in both toilets. Only soap in one of the dispensers in the ladies. Even though a little loo roll down the toilet the toilet wasn't flushing, it was making a dripping noise the whole time and just wasn't coping with a bit of tissues. Not very hygienic. Especially considering we should be washing hands in hot water and using soap for 20 seconds.....
