It's over fifty years since I spent many w/es in France. I love my food this is real french food. Not the arty farty restaurants in London where I have lived for the last 30 years. I have just had the mussels as a starter, followed by bou can't spell it the fish stew so good in Marseilles and to finish black cherry tarte tatine food excellent best french food I've tasted outside France.

Excellent restaurant. Top class food and lovely food. Great menu and so much to choose from. All freshly made. My only criticism is I had a Bouillabaisse, and it must have had a star anise in the amazing stew. I bit into it, and aniseed filled my mouth, which overpowered the other beautiful flavours. However, it is a top restaurant and will return.

Just been for meal at this little treasure of a restaurant. Service was beyond friendly, lovely ambience, food was out of this world. Being vegetarian for 40 years I do get bored of the same menu BUT they had a few amazing different options which I went for the beetroot and lentil bourguignon which tasted outstanding. My husband had for the pork belly and also agreed the food was beyond delicious. Very Highly recommended.

Frankly disappointing. I've been to this restaurant 20+ times since it opened; it used to be great and reliable. Previous experiences have been of a convincing French bistro with tasty and simple food at a good price. Came here for a family meal a few days before Christmas and was extremely disappointed. They are now charging £14/£15 for pretty much every dish, and at that price I expect much better. In all honesty I think I could have cooked some of the dishes we ate myself. My food was as if it had come from a canteen - lumpy mash and a bland stew. An obvious lack of care in the kitchen. I know I can get meals of a better quality for even £12 from other places in the area. As always the waiting staff were lovely, but that doesn't make up for the lack of quality in the food. The atmosphere was a little quiet (on a Saturday night), which is perhaps telling. Really hope they can recover. Sad to see them go this way. If they want to continue to attract custom then something desperately needs to change in the menu/kitchen.

Cute little restaurant, with a nice atmosphere. We visited for Sunday roast. We arrived and waited a while to be seated, it's tricky for them to spot customers as they enter as they're really busy serving. The prices for both food and drinks are very reasonable. The service was great, reasonably quick and very friendly. Three of the four meals were given the thumbs up, one, the lamb, didn't hit the spot. The meals were pleasant, homely, and could have been cooked by your granny! The beef was lovely. Gravy very runny. The vegetables were tender, very tender. We had desserts which were fine.

Very tasty steak and ale pie with a medley of vegetables. Burger was disappointing. Maybe buy burgers from that great butchers shop just a few doors away? Very pleasant and attentive staff.

We went here just last night and it was brilliant. We had the pork and lamb shank and it was some of the tastiest food I have ever had, service was superb and everyone was really friendly. Also one of the staff recommended going to the featherstar bar which is part of the red lion hotel. Great tip, such a cool and quirky bar. I highly recommend this restaurant

Lovely French restaurant in Wirksworth with hidden downstairs space kitted out with fairy lights and lots of brick to feel warm and inviting. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is delicious and what I think of as 'real food' using proper fresh ingredients. There are also good vegetarian options which is not a given for French cuisine. The staff are very helpful if you have any allergies. The downstairs space is accessed by stair only and includes the restroom. I think the ground floor would be able to accommodate a wheelchair.
