large space, dark, noisy music and athmosphere, quite empty, looks like a bathroom, expensive food, tasty cheap cappucino, quick service, cigarette smokers in the outside tables next to the entrance, toilets upstairs, the staircase area smells of urine, the toilets are clean and nice parfumed.

i ordered the all day breakfast (spent Β£20 on it) and to be brutally frank it was ridiculous… the beans came in a pot the same size as the ketchup.. it was like a portion for ants. the hash browns i paid Β£3 extra for were just 2 frozen mini hash browns. the flavour was bland and the plate was mostly just chips as those are the cheapest thing on the plate. it’s a let down as this place has been good for food in the past. not impressed at all and not once was i asked if the food was ok. beans pot shown next to my finger and ketchup dish for scale… i mean come on.. that’s absolutely crazy if you want all day breakfast head onto richfields cafe ( not far to walk to ) as they are much more reasonably priced and will make you a fresh homemade hasbrown (twice the size of those 2 frozen ones)!

We needed to feed a group of 16 people, which included 6 wheelchair users, after completing a Terry's Walkabout Tour nearby which overran. We couldn't have chosen a busier day and time (Saturday 16th August, 1.30pm). Reading were playing at home and people were congregating at the station to attend the nearby Rewind Music Festival. We managed to drag some tables together outside and got everyone a seat. The staff excelled! As the interior was rather full of people, Georgie and Louis came out to us to provide table service. Georgie was so professional, calm and advised us to get our food ordered ahead of drinks so that the kitchen could start preparing. Louis came out when one of the beers wasn't available and was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggesting an alternative. The food arrived quite quickly and was delicious! I had the Flatbread with chicken. A generous portion size and very tasty. The disabled toilet was spacious and clean (you need a RADAR key to access it), but was quite difficult to access due to the location and doors - plus navigating furniture inside the pub. Altogether, an amazing experience, considering we'd not booked and that we were such a large group! Can recommend! Thank you so much Georgie and Louis for looking after us so well - and to the chef for producing such excellent food.

On the whole I would rate as Good (4 stars). The good things were the service - friendly, warm and engaging. The food was tasty, but the portions are on the smaller side for the price charged. ***20% off food voucher in Jan when you register for the wifi*** two cocktails for Β£15 (5-9pm weekdays) is not bad, but again as you can see from the photos, small glasses containing mostly ice. Plenty of plug sockets to charge devices and an interesting building which was previously used as the station, with a few historical things on display which I like. So on the whole a pleasant place to eat and drink, but on the pricey side unless you can take advantage of the offers.

A really large, enjoyable pub right next to Reading Station. Seating inside and out. A wide range of drinks and meals are available. Service is average, and can be slow when it's busy. Toilets are large and well kept. The decor is excellent with plenty of nods to the station and trains. Well worth a visit, particularly if you are leaving the station and have time. The only downside is that it's quite pricey.

If you want drinks then this is amazing place. If you want to eat here it is a totally different experience. From the start we waited for someone to take our order and I had to find a member of staff to take our orders and then they got my partners order drastically wrong. He ordered a burger with salad, cheese and bacon. He got a burger with a bit of sauce and one slice of bacon which I pointed out. They did say that his order should of gone to another table and offered to do another burger but we were catching a train. The only thing I did not like was they took off the drinks off the bill when in my mind they should of taken the burger off as well. When you get your order check and make sure a member of staff stays there while you check. Disappointing. When you book a table you can only have a table for up to 5.

I used to work here back in the 90's when u could still access the bar from platform 1. Things have been drastically modernized since then but it's still a fantastic pub. The real ale choice is superb and the outside space upfront is a vast improvement. The staff seem really nice too. I didn't try the food but I was very happy with my experience here. I will definitely be back here again when in town.

Fast service, reasonably priced for food and a beer, definately not a weatherspoons though β€” friendly staff, perfect location if you want a pint and a bite to eat whilst waiting for a train, thanks

Totally overpriced and due to allergies I could not have eggs so suggested extra beans. Nothing added and long wait for food as chef had not started work yet. Only given average stars as produce good and cooked well.
