I recently had my car, Peugeot 3008, serviced and an MOT done at Pickwell Autos in Reading. The staff were incredibly cooperative, professional, and friendly throughout the entire process. I’ve been a loyal customer at this garage for 3 years, but since the previous owners sold it, the service has gone completely downhill. They tried to charge me almost triple the price for a car part, which is outrageous. When I explained I needed to wait 2 days for a part I had already ordered, they said it was fine to wait. But when I came to deliver the part, suddenly they slapped me with a per-day fee for the car supposedly sitting there—something they never mentioned beforehand. It feels like they’re inventing fees just to squeeze more money out of customers. Even after picking up the car, which they claimed was fixed, my airbag light and vehicle light malfunction warning have “coincidentally” turned on, issues that were not there before. It’s incredibly disappointing to see a garage I trusted for years turn into a place that overcharges, invents fees, and leaves you with more problems than you started with. Avoid this garage unless you want stress, shady billing, and more headaches.
I went there for an MOT and wheel alignment, and I was really impressed with the service. They gave me a great deal and were very transparent about everything. The staff are super friendly and professional — they made the whole process quick and stress-free. It’s nice to find a garage that’s both honest and affordable. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending them to others!
I took my VW Sharan 2.0 (2013) to Joys Motors Ltd also known as Pickwell Motors on 18 July 2025 for a DPF cleaning. Before leaving the vehicle, I asked clearly if they remove the DPF for proper cleaning (not just a sensor flush). They assured me yes. The next day, they told me they had “flushed it twice” and suddenly claimed there was a turbo fault and that I needed a new turbo. This was very suspicious because the car had been recently serviced at a different garage, and there was no mention of any turbo issue and also if they removed the DPF how could they flush it twice. I later took it to my independent mechanic, who confirmed: No turbo issue whatsoever DPF still full of soot (25g) and pressure at 44mbar Proving the DPF was never removed or properly cleaned, despite what Joys Motors told me I also had the job redone properly by Powerx, who provided a video proving the DPF had never been removed. Joys Motors had promised me a refund if I brought proof but when I did, they refused. PowerX also stated they are the only ones that have the DPF cleaning machine and Joy Motors do NOT. This business is dishonest, misleading, and tried to upsell unnecessary repairs. I wasted time, money, and trust because of their lies. I strongly do not recommend this garage.

Had an MOT and service done at the same time. The collection and drop off service was amazing, and they kept to their promises even out of hours. Did not feel like they were dishonest or over priced. Did a fab job on my car, including a clean. Will definitley use again.
Didn’t have good experience at all. Car was taken in for coolant leak. After about two weeks of in and out finally they said they found the fault and repaired it. Cost me £318. After four days the coolant light came on again and coolant compartment empty. Since then this garage hasn’t done a thing snd shrugged their responsibility of putting it right. Very disappointing customer service. Getting some legal advice now as a last resort.
